In my long experience with investment, I have never been charged with "miscellaneous expense" and credited with "miscellaneous income". You'll see these items in and out of your cash reserve at a mind boggling rate. Good luck.
I have tried and I don't believe it's really free. If you redeem mutual funds shares, always check the net asset value (NAV) of the shares you redeemed from reliable sources. Don't believe in the number they gave you. Always use limit orders, so you know exactly what you are getting or paying. Keep a good transaction record preferably down load to your financial software so you have your personal record.

Don't rush to the door without your overnight pack! It all comes down to the market valuation of the stocks. The same stocks, In China, P/E is 50 to 70; in US, 15 to 20. If you equalize the valuation, there is nothing scary about the scenario! Calm down America!
