  • Pres. Obama's re-election doesn't bode well for the odds of a tax holiday on overseas cash, notes Eric Savitz. That's problematic for large-cap tech names such as Apple (AAPL), Microsoft (MSFT), and Cisco (CSCO), which respectively have $83B, $54B, and $42.5B stashed overseas (per their most recent financials). As Savitz observes, there's a good chance some of that cash will be used on foreign acquisitions, especially in light of recent deals such as Microsoft/Skype and Cisco/NDS. [View news story]

  • "It's not easy to make the iPhones. We are falling short of meeting the huge demand," says Foxconn (FXCOF.PK) chairman Terry Gou, suggesting iPhone 5 shortages aren't letting up. Another Foxconn exec made similar remarks last month. Analysts have reported Foxconn has enlisted a division that typically makes non-Apple (AAPL -2.8%) products to help address the shortfall. [View news story]
So you would make a decision as to which phone you'll be stuck with for two years because of a two week wait? I guess I don't see the logic.

  • Why the iPad Mini arrived just in time: IDC believes the iPad's (AAPL) share of the tablet market fell to 50.4% in Q3 from Q2's 65.5%. Even after factoring in inventory adjustments and iPad Mini anticipation, that's worthy of attention. Samsung's share is believed to have doubled Q/Q to 18.4% (in spite of a weak U.S. position), and Amazon (AMZN) and (Nexus 7 OEM) Asus are respectively pegged at 9% and 8.6%. Overall, tablet shipments rose 50% Y/Y in a quarter where PC shipments fell 9%. [View news story]
"Apple will need to change it's pricing strategy pretty soon"

The black market IS the market in so many of those places. And never under estimate the ruling elite's capacity to feign umbridge publicly while thristing after western products privately.

To rip off Somporn's arguments: BMW doesn't have 50% of the auto market, yet they are wildly profitable. You don't have to have the highest market share to keep generating profits. Apple is pumping BIG money into R&D. Do you really think that money is to further refine the lightning connector? I don't know what it's for, but I do know the only reason you're able to argue market share, chopchop0, is because apple innovated and everyone else jumped on the bandwaggon.

  • Some nuggets from Apple's (AAPL) FY12 10-K: 1) Apple plans to open 30-35 retail stores in FY13, 3/4 of which will be outside the U.S. There are currently 390 Apple Stores worldwide, following the opening of 33 in FY12. 2) FY12 ad expenses totaled $1B, up a bit from FY11's $933M. 3) Apple's FY13 capex budget has been set at $10B. The company spent $8.3B on capex (on a cash basis) in FY12, after initially guiding for $8B. [View news story]
You're a joke. You've created an SA account to bash Apple. You trolls should be banned. Almost everyone of your posts is an attack. HOW IS THAT ADDING TO THE DISCUSSION?

  • The iPad mini has gone on sale today, but without the long queues and frenzy that normally accompany the launch of a new Apple (AAPL) product. That's possibly because the specifications aren't as good as in the iPad, while the models on sale don't include the chips that support high-speed cellular Internet. Those are due in a couple of weeks. [View news story]
Hey cograts 33up, your first comment on SA is worthless fandroid drivel.

You see, this is where trolls lose credibility. This little blurb is about Apple expanding it's stores at a rate similar to the last FY. There was zero room to glean that Tim Cook is on any kind of radically different path than Jobs. Yet, an opinion was posted about something that is completely unknowable. This all adds to the background noise and when I hear noise like that, I think of Kenny F. Powers and what he would say: "**** that noise".

  • The iPad Mini (AAPL) is the best small-size tablet available, even if it's far from the cheapest. That's the consensus among reviewers, who frequently praise the device's build quality, thickness/weight, battery life, usefulness as an e-reader, and (of course) app support, as well as technology that rejects accidental touches caused by the Mini's small bezels. The Mini's display (lower resolution than Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HD) and smaller keyboard receive a bit of criticism. (reviews: I, II, III, IV, V) (more[View news story]
The vast majority of your posts are anti-apple rants about the quality of a device you've never even held.

Here are some reviews that disagree with your ONE (though you use "reviews" indicating more than one) sophomoric reveiw on a blog no one's heard of.

I'll add to that: How many products out there can make a three year old and a 33 year old get into a tug of war over who gets to use it?

I had to think a little about that one too, but Apple never gave any guidance for 1Q 2013 bofore the conf call last week. So saying "Apple.. has reduced its guidance for its upcoming 1Q 2013," is pattantly false.
