  • How Much Should You Pay For Apple? [View article]
I tend to agree with Richbar - I can't see AAPL ever setting new highs again, and because of that, it is now a broken stock, as many have come to realize.

I think the Surface Pro Tablets could do well, but right now their price point is a little high (2x iPad) based on the functionality that they offer.

  • The Investment Rate Warns Of A Major Market Turn Down [View article]
You're the blind one. There's no way this market has reached an extreme that would signal a turning point. You can stay fearful all you want, but the fearful ones don't make much money over the long run.

You say there's a bubble... but where's your proof? You didn't really offer anything in this article other than FUD.

It's really hard to imagine the economy and stock market tanking in the middle of so much monetary stimulus and after so much deleveraging from consumers (add to that pent up demand).

We may see a small pullback in stock prices, but there's no way in hell it's crashing like it did the last two times.

  • Several Theories To Explain Apple's Nosedive [View article]
That's the thing I don't understand about iPhones and iPads being labeled as more expensive... They're not really any more expensive, but are way better for the same price tag (in terms of software at least).

And the Surface Pro tablet is pretty much double the price of an iPad...

    @Baozebub

Exactly, that's the problem with Android. People get a crappy android phone and assume all android phones are crap. Then they see somebody with even an older iPhone having no problems. This is my theory as to why Apple stole more than half the sales at every carrier in the U.S. in Q4, which in itself is ridiculous and a good sign that they do indeed have the better product, and it's not even that much more expensive.

I've actually owned high-end Android phones up until just recently and they've all been glitchy and slow.

  • Digitimes joins Phone Arena in reporting Google (GOOG) is working on a Nexus 7 tablet with a 1080p display. The device will supposedly be made by Asus (Phone Arena reported LG) and sell for $199-$249 (like the current model). That would make it a tougher rival to the iPad Mini, which sports a 1024x768 display (for now) but maintains a big edge in tablet-specific apps. The site adds total Nexus 7 shipments will surpass 6M by month's end - Asus reported of ramping sales for the Nvidia-powered (NVDA) tablet in October. [View news story]
I have a couple of friends with the Nexus 7, and they are slow and clunky compared to the iPad mini and Regular iPad, which I own.

Even they admit (and they're huge tech geek android fanboys) that the iPad is definitely better, after years of hating it.

In the end the better product will win, especially at these low price points (people have always been willing to spend 400-1000 on computers that they will use full time).

  • Why Apple's Profits Are At Risk [View article]
People aren't going to stop wanting the best/fastest phones, because it's their most useful tool in their day to day life. That means other competitors will have to keep up with Apple's economies of scale, which nobody else has right now except maybe Samsung. Those economies of scale are what drive Apple's insane margins, not just the justified high ASP.

When Apple invents some new technology or manufacturing process and is the only company to have it for a while, that's when they succeed, very much like they're succeeding now.

Those different feelings you get when trying Apple products against other products are the immense number of patents Apple has paying off.
