Why would Apple admit that the i5 is too small when its still their flagship device? he would basically be saying to stop buying the phones until the new one is out - not good for shareholders.

I think it would be better if people knew Apple was steam rolling into a buy back with their massive cash hoard

Mobile market is set to expand 4x and you're telling Apple RIP. Huh? Did I miss the part of the earnings statement where Apple decided to call it quits?

Last I checked Apple was the one selling hundreds of billions of dollars a year, and RIM was the one with almost no market share. The only Marketshare RIM might take back will be from Android, because most people who've at least tried Apple products rarely go back.

  • Apple (AAPL): FQ1 EPS of $13.81 beats by $0.37. Revenue of $54.51B (+18% Y/Y) misses by $220M. 47.8M iPhones, 22.9M iPads, 4.1M Macs, 12.7M iPods. Expects FQ2 revenue of $41B-$43B, below $45.6B consensus. Shares -4.3% AH. (PR[View news story]
And then people will realize they're selling a stock that is growing 18% at less than an 8-9 P/E with cash

  • Verizon (VZ) states on its Q4 call it activated 6.2M iPhones in Q4, good for 63% of total smartphone activations (up from 46% in Q3, and 56% in the year-ago period). Big Red had previously disclosed it activated 9.8M smartphones in the quarter. CFO Fran Shammo says about half of the iPhone sales involved the iPhone 5 - that remark comes as UBS points to survey data indicating a mix shift towards older and lower-capacity iPhone models. Apple (AAPL) +0.8%. (AT&T smartphone sales[View news story]
I never understood why people didn't just buy the best phone available... You're paying the phone company 60-70$+ per month, an extra $100-200 for the best phone is worth it.

  • Sharp (SHCAY.PK) has "nearly halted production" of displays for the regular iPad as demand shifts towards the iPad Mini and Apple (AAPL -0.6%) attempts to manage inventory, Reuters reports. Many analysts have already forecast the Mini, which is thinner and much lighter than the 4th-gen regular iPad, will account for a majority of iPad sales in Q1. Higher Mini sales benefit display suppliers AUO and LPL. Due to lower price tags, Apple's average gross profit on Mini sales appears to be lower than its average gross profit on regular iPad sales. [View news story]
And on top of that, the mini will allow them to sell more ipads overall... I have a regular ipad and a mini and i can garuntee that the regular ipad is well worth the extra money.

It's not an automatic hit on their overall profit.

  • Judge Lucy Koh yesterday ordered Tim Cook to testify in a lawsuit over whether Apple (AAPL), Google (GOOG) and other hi-tech companies breached antitrust laws by agreeing not to try to poach each others' employees. Erich Schmidt is also due to appear in the trial, as is Intel's (INTC) Paul Otellini. Lawyers for the five plaintiffs in the case reckon that damages could reach hundreds of millions of dollars. [View news story]

  • Pac Crest joins the rush, cutting Apple (AAPL) to Sector Perform with fair value of $440-$550, noting high-end market saturation and waning demand for incremental hardware innovation. Piper's Gene Munster holds the line, reiterating his Buy and a $875 target. Shares +1.4% premarket. [View news story]
My technical indicators are all pointing up right now.

Also: Technicals have way less predictive value during earnings season.

That's like saying the iPhone didn't take off in the US until LTE... simply not true. 3G is good enough for a smartphone.

I don't think google glass will take off at all. Nobody has ever liked wearing glasses that weren't sunglasses. You'll look like a nerd just like all those people with Bluetooth earpieces did 5-7 years ago.

That's not saying there won't be some adopters, but I can't see it taking off like smartphones.

Apple will have a full version of office on iPads soon. And look at MSFTs massive share of the PC space over the last 20 years - I think that will come down to more normal levels with AAPLs halo effect over the next 20 years. I know lots of people are sick of MSFT products and are willing to try out something new. I did and I'm not looking back.
