It's pretty ridiculous that you can't even walk around an Apple store yet somehow people think AAPL demand is declining. Maybe these people should get out more.

Apple stores are probably the reason that the flu hit epidemic status so fast this year.

  • Dear Apple Board, This Is How You Defend The Share Price [View article]
You don't need to be long AAPL to care about the stock price as a manager. They're paid very heavily with AAPL shares, so in the end the stock price drives how much they make.

I think increasing the dividend by .25% would be most prudent and leave that option on the table for future earnings reports as well.

It has to hit an irrational low before it can start climbing again, just like the irrational $700 high it hit last year.

  • If cutting Apple (AAPL) targets is an Olympic sport, Nomura wins the gold, slashing its price target to $530 from $660, with the analysts proving they read the paper by citing worries over iPhone sales and gross margins. [View news story]
AAPL has kept the same margins all the way through the PC age, not sure why people think this new era will be any different. There will always be a faster processor, better screen, faster speeds, better graphics to pay a premium for.

I was in an AAPL store yesterday and couldn't even move... Never seen them like this. I also grabbed a new iPad 4 after finally caving - best piece of technology I've ever owned for sure, way smoother than the Samsung Nexus line.

  • Global PC shipments, Windows 8 hardware and all, fell 6.4% Y/Y to 89.8M in Q4, according to IDC. That's slightly better than Q3's 8.6% drop, but worse than a forecast for a 4.4% decline. The decline might have been larger if inventory replenishment didn't lead U.S. shipments to fall a relatively modest 4.5%. IDC still considers H-P (HPQ -2.1%) the world's top vendor, and estimates its share rose 90 bps Y/Y to 16.8%. But #3 Dell's (DELL -1.6%) share fell 190 bps to 10.6%. Apple's U.S. share rose 50 bps to 11.4%. AMD -1.9%. STX -1.3%[View news story]
PCs are still the best solution for many, many tasks. Tablets are good for certain types of content creation, but are mostly for consumption IMO.

If AAPL had the same P/E that Amazon currently has (3500ish) their stock would be worth about $150,000 per share.

  • "Despite the popularity of cheap smartphones, this will never be the future of Apple’s (AAPL -0.1%) products," says SVP Phil Schiller in an interview with a Chinese paper. He adds that in "every product that Apple creates, we consider using only the best technology available." The remarks throw cold water on reports of a cheaper iPhone featuring less costly materials, and particularly on a Bloomberg report that Apple is considering retail prices of just $99-$149 for the device. Update: The interview's text has been significantly revised[View news story]
Have you ever worked for a tech company? I have, and the sheer speed with which AAPL churns out new top of the line gadgets is mind-boggling. They will always have the best tech feasible for the current generation.
