  • The Case For Apple's Special Dividend [View article]
Too few apps wasn't really a problem when iPhone and Android first started out... but now there are alternatives that actually have apps, making windows and RIM comebacks hard to imagine.

  • The Beatings Will Continue Until Morale Improves [View article]
I disagree that tech won't come under the regulation spotlight. The FTC has been trying to find ways to mess with Google for a while now. They don't like when companies (this includes AAPL) have more information on citizens than the actual government.

  • Lessons From Black Monday [View article]
You sound like somebody who has been bearish during the whole recovery. Sorry that we have systems in place preventing a catastrophic collapse of our economy!

Sorry but we would be retarded to not use the knowledge gained from the past to keep it from repeating. Inflation isn't bad, get over it.

  • Is A Stock Market Drop Imminent? [View article]
This is because technical analysis only works because enough people partake in it. If there aren't a million other people seeing the same thing as you, your trades won't work well.

  • Where was this story 50% ago? Its cover showing a tombstone engraved "R.I.P. PC," Barron's says DELL and H-P (HPQ) will fade from view. Next up for trouble could be Microsoft (MSFT), seemingly cheap at 9X 2013 earnings, but which reported sales at its Windows unit off by a third Y/Y after backing out pre-sales for Windows 8. The world awaits the launch of Surface at midnight on Friday. More winners/losers here[View news story]

I still think a good 400$ ACER laptop destroys even an iPad in terms of usefulness.

An 800$ self-built desktop is still by far the best value for high-end performance.

    PCs aren't going anywhere.

  • After seeing Verizon report it sold just ~650K iPhone 5s in Q3 due to supply issues, Jefferies' Peter Misek thinks only 5M units may have been sold overall in the quarter - he previously believed sales of 8M-10M were possible. But Misek argues iPhone 4/4S sales will make up for any shortfall to his 26M-unit iPhone forecast. Meanwhile, Stifel notes the iPhone 5 is still back-ordered for 3 weeks at Verizon. Apple (AAPL -2.8%) is selling off along with many other tech large caps, and is down 13% from its Sep. 21 high. (earlier: I, II[View news story]

  • Why I Don't Worry About Google [View article]
You long MSFT or something? 99% of what 99% of people do with their computers, Android can do.

Once office is released for Android it will be complete. Even legit video games are becoming widely made for Android devices.

  • Microsoft Bing: Joining The Mob To Throw Stones At Google [View article]
I just sold GOOG today because of those FTC headlines... I'll more than likely rebuy after the string of headlines coming out about it drive the price down more and more. That whole Vringo thing too.

  • 4 of the FTC's 5 commissioners reportedly believe an antitrust case should be brought against Google (GOOG) for using its search dominance to promote other services. The FTC is also examining complaints the company doesn't provide data that would allow advertisers to compare the effectiveness of ad campaigns on different search engines. Meanwhile, Microsoft (MSFT) has specifically added Google as a defendant in a German patent suit against Motorola Mobility. (more[View news story]
You make a great point. If the links Google puts first aren't helping anybody then they will stop using Google.

The thing is they do help people. Look up how they rank Ad-words advertisements... it's not just who pays the most money, but a lot of it has to do with the content of your website and how well it matches the search phrase entered by the searcher. Google is still in the process of tweaking this as well, so why would they give away information on exactly how it's working compared to other search engines? It's proprietary information.

Google has done more good for the world in the past 10 years than the FTC has.

Inflation is a good thing at this point in time. I know it's hard for a lot of people to accept, but ask any unbiased economist and they will tell you we need some moderate inflation in the 5% range for a couple of years. No way we're paying back the nation's debt otherwise, so get over it and hedge.

  • Apple: Say Hello To Risk And Uncertainty [View article]
You sure you want to short Google when the latest market share numbers are in Android's favor and they've yet to really start trying to make money on that part of their business?

I'm long the whole mobile industry.

  • Is T-Mobile's Comeback A Threat To Sprint? [View article]
18-24 months sounds right to me, but all that time without the iPhone and other amazing smartphones will be just enough time for sprint to really become a giant again as it starts to turn profits.

Is it better than the Galaxy S3 or the Google Nexus? I think that's what this really comes down to over the long run. I can't see Apple always having the best product in the future if this release cycle is any indication.

Whether or not that matters is also a question, because Apple is cool maaaan....
