  • Straight Path Communications Inc.: The Next Generation Of Overblown Spectrum Hype [View article]
"headed by a 29-year old whose previous job was serving as the rabbi of a 50-person synagogue in the Bronx" ..

Yes, next thing you know, we'll have a $300 billion dollar company with a stock price that keeps going up started by a twentysomething college drop out who usually wears hoodies in public appearances....

(levity here no need to for black out rage)

  • Announcing SA's First Outstanding Performance Award Winners [View article]
You speak highly about the outstanding ideas. Why not at least make them available so we can get an idea of what your version of "great" research is. Also, it is a big tease to hear you ranting about the ideas and then click on the lick and getting nothing unless you are a pro member. Something to consider.

  • Where Are The Digital Shorts Now? [View article]
Thanks for your continued good REIT analysis and I get your point on the fundmentals, selloff was likely overdone. However, regardless of Highfields reasoning, they were right directionally (which is all they care about). From the day they made that call (5/8/13) until the end of the year, DLR was off 26%! Actually by Dec. 3, it was down nearly 34%. Meanwhile the SP500 was up 14% from the day of their comments through the end of the year. Even through yesterday, the stock is down 7% since the original short. So still in the red. The point is on a absolute and relative basis, their call was on the money. Now I suspect we may be having a different conversation in 6 months, but for now it was good call. I suspect they have cashed in at this point (maybe not though)

  • More Pain Ahead For Target Investors [View article]
Agree with vincent, Target WACC is 7-8%. But me thinks a 7.5% rate would give you a much different value. Then again, if you chose to reflect the stock's risk in your discount rate (vs keeping it steady state and simply adjusting your cash flows), 10% is a good check from a downside sensitivity point of view.

Nice work, reminds me (and probably a few others) that I probably give too many of my companies a pass with regards to incentive compensation and option dilution.

Agree really good overview. Also, I wouldn't count out WAB. Higher returns (ROE,ROIC) and a really good balance sheet. Also levered to subways and buses @ 42% of sales vs just railcars. Thks, keep up the insight.

  • Flowers Foods Looks To Be A Takeover Candidate [View article]
Thanks for the update. But I am not sure about the upside of FLO based on the Canada bread multiples. Especially if you look at transaction multiples on an EBITDA basis, as many M&A valuations do. Bascially the transaction value was 1.65 b ex Canada's cash, or 65.20 share (US $). Im looking at a M&A stat notice, it lists their EBITDA at 141 (this number is too low it must not exclude items). Anyway, that would indicate a multiple of 11.7. If FLO is expected to generate 481 mm in EBITDA for 2014, you get an EV of 5.6b. Today's value is 4.9B. So I get 14% upside. Apologies for the rambling, but the point is on an EBITDA multiple basis, I don't get nearly the same upside. But what do I know!

  • NuVasive Riding A New Wave Of Optimism [View article]
As someone who used to watch NUVA , agree with your comments Stephen. NUVA for years over spent and under earned while trading at 6x sales multiple expected to go higher based on topline. Welcome to the new normal. The time to buy was @ 20 not now.

BTW, do you like GMED here.

  • New! Bookmark Your Favorite Articles And Read Them On The Go [View article]
Not trying to be a whiner or crybaby but guys I don't pretend to know all the technical ramifications behind why you removed the bookmark feature, but I think you said not enough users were utilizing it. I guess my question is is there some reason why it still was a problem leaving it as is. There are a lot of articles that are great reads, that I often saved and referred to later. Also, the comments by others are often just as valuable. Now the best thing we can do is print multiple pages to try and capture the articles and the comments. This isn't very "green" of you. Having everything in one place online is extremely helpful. The last thing most of us need is more stacks of paper or a new folder on our computers. Anyway, from the looks of the comments it seems many liked being able to bookmark articles. Hopefully you can find a fix, keep up the good work.

"WWWW follow-up; weakness may be attributed to cautious blog mention before the open "

Even SA Pro articles hit the market as quickly as the regular articles. Shorts having their way today. SA becoming a platform for shorts to have their way. Inevitable, interesting analysis though

  • Natural Grocers Boldly Going Where Others Have Gone Before [View article]
Couple of points here. Much like dollar stores compete better when they are closer Wal Mart; NGVC is the same with WFM. Their most profitable store is in the same parking lot as a whole foods (which is also very profitable). I will say the CEO who is part of the family management is a little odd in nature; and you can tell they are new to the whole public company rat race. The CFO is pretty good though. The CEO says he does all his grocery shopping at the store. I believe him but I also think this store appeals to a like minded "tree hugger" type--not trying to be offensive but if you've sniffed around the story, you probably know what I mean. They each have multiple roles which is reasonable of a company of this size. Interesting
