I am a retired Army surgeon. I worked in health care management for another five years after retiring from the Army and then retired completely. Now, I am pursuing my other lifelong dream of carpentry. I have renovated two homes and am building a number of furniture projects. For investing, I continue to study medicine and find many of the newer technologies to be fascinating as well as exciting. When investing, I tend to look for companies in which I can make an investment and then watch for years. Over the years, I have held Starbucks since 1991 or 92, Steris since 1993 and a number of classic large caps such as GE and EMR. I have also managed to lose significant investment in companies such as Zapworld and a couple others. I am most definitely not a professional investor or investment advisor. However, I tend to avoid tax preparers (I do my own) and investment advisors as assiduously as I avoid the plague.
