  • Stocks back in retreat mode [View news story]
This could turn in the short term, but it is rough out there. My money says to stay clear completely, or only slowly dollar cost in for a while.

    Want to see the bubble?

Look at SPY on the 5 year time chart, get a piece of paper, connect the peak prices of April 2011, March 2012, and Sep of 2012....... where does that line take you? To me it takes us all the way down to about 171 or so on SPY. Which would still be a huge price drop from where we are at now. Don't think it can happen?

Safe bet it so stay clear from this point, as in OUT, at least until the SPY price comes back and touches either the 400 SMA or the 50 SMA (whichever first), on its 1 year chart. I'm betting it touches its own 50 SMA first, just my take!

Agree with you on that one, I'm avoiding this knife for a while. At least until SPY price comes back to either its 50 Or 400 SMA, my money says the 50 will come down to meet it first!

folks should wait until the SPY price makes it back above both its own 50 and 200 SMA prior to celebrating. Look back at 2008 and 20011, this thing could go a while and this is just recent history. Just my take.

  • Futures rebound from lows, but still point to red open [View news story]
Same feeling I have, maybe a small up, but nothing substantial.

This is the first time SPY has busted the 300 SMA since AUG of 2011, and the chart looks real similar.

Seems the market has been looking for a correction for a while. Just my take

I recommend to stay out until the price comes back to the 50 day, we will see.

  • MORL: Twice The Risk For Not A Lot Of Fun [View article]
Even if the stock price continues to drop why worry? I'd not put all my money in this one, but it is a different kind of investment.

Some real estate is purchased with the idea in mind of selling it later.

This is not. This is like a crappy property purchased next to a lake. I'll never sell it and could care less what happens to the property value. I just sit back and enjoy the rental income and don't worry. Just me.

A value investor might have a hard time with this outlook, but if you have a portion of your portfolio that is targeted at generating income.... for the rest of the portfolio..... or for boat gas or golf, this one if perfect.

I play a lot of golf games on this stock, pretty much for free.

Yep, you and me see this the same way. Value, in terms of MORL is cash flow. Hard to explain, but the 20% a year adds up.

Agree with you totally, and great article. There are several ways to look at value, however, and I guess this is where you lose me.

If someone is looking to invest $10 and lock the value at $10, or expect the value to increase to $12, MORL is not for them. Clearly.

If someone is interested in cash flow, different story. If a guy want to buy something with his $10 that pays $2 a year, regardless of share price, this is perfect.

If the price of the original share drops from $10 to $3 or even $1, who cares as long as it continues to pay $2 a year, why worry? The $2 a year income buys more shares when the price drops to $3.......... but it is still $2 cash flow. So more gas for the boat or retirement pad or whatever.

This one is like buying rental property you never plan to sell or live in, but want the monthly money you get out of it. Cash flow.

Crazy way to look at it, but I see MORL as a totally different kind of investment.

Yes, very true. You can never refine gasoline at your house, however, so we need a huge system to get it to you car. Hydrogen, on the other hand, is something you can actually make with some salt water and a battery. Not nearly enough to fill a car tank, but you can make it very easily. Only a matter of time before there are other options for creating hydrogen in your garage. Some with electricity or natural gas, others with renewable energy. Either way, someone will come up with it and it will make the new toyota a great option.

Paulo, you do a great job responding to so many comments, great job man, keep it up.

Agree with you on EVs, but feel the power running them will not be coal, nukes or wind etc.. but hydrogen

This is a hydro fuel cell from Toyota. Uses hydrogen and wind to make electricity to run the battery, exhaust is water.

    http://toyota.us/1K9tOOJ

Issue of course is how do you make the hydrogen and where are you losing energy? Now we spend more money, and pollution, creating the electricity to run a TSLA than just putting gas into my car.

So the point will be how do we make hydrogen cheaper?
