How much of the acceleration in home price gains is the result of one big player? Blackstone (BX) is buying homes at a furious pace, now having spent $2.5B for 16K properties, up from $1B in October. The firm is quickening its buys, alarmed by the rise in prices (which its own purchases appear to be causing). [View news story]
no wonder my all cash bids havent been good enough i knew the big $$ was here in charlotte if you dont bid 10,000 over asking price you have no chance only way to get one of these foreclosures is a H.U.D. house which the first 10 days of bidding are for owner occupant if not a hud house you have no chance i been trying since Sept and no luck even with bids 5,000 over asking plus you cant waste time getting realtor to even show you the inside cause big money buying without ever seeing the inside
The Great Recession Is Over: Time To Back Up The Truck [View article]
Im trying to buy a house as well the reason its so hard is REIT and hedge funds are buying these things 10,000 over asking price and never even seeing the inside of the house. Crazy how wallstreet gets bailed out way before middle class so they can buy your house at 50%-80% discount then rent it back to you for $900 month for 5 years then prices firm up and sell sell sell. these banks are the financial terrorist they caused the crisis then they profit off it at your expense lol
Max Keiser talks abou tthis all the time saying JP morgan has the largest short position on silver and if everyone would just buy 1 ounce of silver it would bankrupt JP morgan, google "max keiser silver" and you will find out all about it
The haggling to avert a fiscal cliff brings more movement, with President Obama offering to limit tax increases to those earning over $400K - up from his long-held desire of $250K but well below John Boehner's proposal of $1M. The latter's aides say the offer represents "a step in the right direction" but is too heavy on the tax revenues and too light on the spending cuts. [View news story]

Investors Beware: REIT Yields, Though Sexy, Aren't Telling The Whole Story [View article]
look out below for what those yields are still 7%-10% just because you dont have enough $$ to make 10% worth while doesnt mean the old grey hairds dont 10% on 100,000 = 10k fordoing nothing also look at the charts on all those reit you mention look like to me they are in a strong uptrend according to their charts with some even raising div over last 2 quarters
Investors Beware: REIT Yields, Though Sexy, Aren't Telling The Whole Story [View article]
The retiring boomers are looking for attractive yields with their avg 401k being 200,000 i would think they are looking for 10% to 14% yields to make 20,000 -28000 a year plus soc security, the old grey haired people have all the $$$ anyway and they are looking for income streams not risky stocks to own that pay nothing. So I would think they will invest in income streams like REIT Vs. no income streams. I myseld am long MTGE ARR AGNC NYMT AMTG and i trust the income from those stocks way more than trying to get stock appreciation form high beta names also HLSS good one 8% monthly yield
Doug Kass doesn't pull any punches in making a bear case for Apple (AAPL +0.9%). The iPhone 5 "feels like a toy," Kass writes, while claiming Steve Jobs would have never "let it go out the door like that." With Jobs gone, Apple risks "losing that magical Walt Disney feeling," he adds. Kass, who shorted Apple in winter (that hasn't worked out well), also believes Apple is "losing mojo and mindshare" to Samsung, and predicts his fears might start to be realized after the December quarter.
