  • Microsoft Is Likely To Beat The Street On Quarterly Results [View article]
My guess is that the Win9 development schedule will rob from the XP to Win 8.1 migration. Everybody hates to upgrade and will put it off as long as there is any excuse to.

  • 3D Systems' Guidance Exceeds Estimates: Further Upside Ahead [View article]

"I´m much older than you" - kinda condescending, isn't it?
"Palm, Xerox (the original Windows), Sinclair ( the English company that invented the PC), Emron, Valence Technologies, DeLorean, ethanol stocks, rare earths stocks etc." - just a long list of losers, proves nothing. Just an exercise in picking losers.
"DDD has a very aggressive administration that moves only to keep the stock price trend, is moving without a coherent plan (more)" - I have started and operated 27 businesses from scratch (all winners - no losers). With all that experience, I have yet to see any incoherence in their planning (now I am being condescending).
"there is no way to assure as you do that DDD will be the leader in the field" - I don't see any "assurance" in the article, just a best guess. Any a pretty good one in my estimation.
"Of course that DDD is shortable" (not a word) - notice that the short ratio has dropped considerably. Also, good insider buys and ownership. I'm ignoring the sells - they can be for any reason.

Allow me to be condescending again (you started it) - in the last 10 1/2 years of investing (with very little trading, no options), I have increased my portfolio value by six fold.

Alex - thanks for your ideas - much appreciated.

  • Does Intel's New CEO Have What It Takes? [View article]
A good article and a lot of good comments. All combined, none are important as this one sentence:
"There are still a lot of things that slow us down-how we make decisions, the number of people who feel like they have to have a say," Krzanich said.
You can't be innovative (abd on time) and fight bureaucracy at the same time. Looks like he know who to get rid of. Hope he can keep the best and hire the right people where they are needed. My experience from having started 27 businesses from scratch and staffing them, leads me to believe he can do that.
On another point. As a long term investor, I care little about investor information, other than honesty. I care more about eternal communications and good numbers. The share price will soon correct itself.

  • Intel: Upside Potential [View article]
I'm not too hopeful that the PC demand will turn around when MS drops XP's support. With Win9 release rumored for April '15, we might just see the Osbourne effect here. Even then, the economy will have to look promising, for PC sales to uptick. Over a 30+ year period, I have previewed, panned and skipped adoption of every dud MS operationg system. Namely, MSDOS 4, Windows ME, Vista and Win 8/8.1. I am still on Win 7. Hopefully Win 9 (Threshold) will be a winner.

  • Apple May Steamroll Android By 2015 [View article]
A great article and great comments. The problem I have here is what I feel is the overall reliance on 'history' to forecast the future. I think one tidbit of news like: http://cnet.co/1bAEszk, can sometimes be a more reliable predictor of price movement.

AAPL (and INTC in the longer term) are setting themselves up for the next big leg UP.

  • Intel's Problem Isn't ARM, It's Qualcomm [View article]
I don't recall reading a single SA article that promoted INTC lead, that factored in the Snapdragon 800. It came out of virtually nowhere for me. What did I miss? Was there no advance info on this soc? Puzzled.

  • Beware Of Research In Motion And Nokia Near Year-End [View article]
Encouraging 920 sales reports have been coming out for a few weeks now. It is only in the last few days that news of huge buying by brokerage houses and institutions have been circulating widely. I believe this co-incidence is the real driver of the stock price, not recent sales. I don't see the buyers that are driving the stock up know are going to be selling anytime soon. I think a lot of the shorts have been selling into this market already. We'll see.

  • Microsoft's Time Has Come ... Again [View article]
IBM's failure was not in pursuing mainframes, but rather concentrating on OS2 and signing off all their rights on Windows to Microsoft.

  • eBay: Growth at the Right Bid [View article]
I agree with all of the above trashing of eBay. Just 'one' of many more reasons I very seldom use eBay. If buyer and seller are in the same country other that the US, both have pay high exchange rates to and from US $. As a Canadian eBay/PayPal won't even accept my US credit card. GREEDY, GREEDY, GREEDY!
