I run an online banking site Bromoney.com where I update cd interest rates and savings account deals.

In my research I've noticed that credit unions seem to be offering the best cd rates these days. Although credit union's aren't insured by the FDIC, they still have NCUA insurance which is basically just as good. So if you are looking for certificates of deposit from a credit union they won't show up in a FDIC database.
