We have arrived at a crossroads, $BBRY and $NOK begin to diverge fundamentally.

    • Eld: they have always diverged 'fundamentaly' :-P RIMM has margin >0 to absorb sales fading, NOK does not have
      1/18/13
    • realornot: $BBRY has its own OS and $NOK needs to break away from $MSFT to take it to the next level!

    • NIKKG913: Samsung isn't using its "own" OS and they are doing good. Nokia does what it does best, and thats being a hardware company.
      1/18/13
    • NIKKG913: In fact, Nokia did try its own OS and as you remember and thats why they are in the situation they are in

    • C.E.: Lumia 920 actual sales is still a mystery. I have personally not seen a single 920 in the wild.
      1/18/13
    • sprasad03: i have seen plenty of 920s not to the demand of iphone and android
      1/18/13
    • Erick Lee: I think from this point onward, their price patterns will match each other's less and less and less.
      1/18/13
    • Charles Santerre: It`s the whole world of W8 and WP8 manufacturers vs little 'ol RIMM. I will bet on the whole world thank you very much.
      1/18/13
    • Nuno Donato: its not that big of a world actually :p
      1/18/13
    • Charles Santerre: Aside from corps who have not moved on in the last 4 years, who will buy BB10 when they are alone? Not me.
      1/18/13
    • Andreas Hopf: I suppose, the massive media onslaught pro-RiM is due to them having still Apple-style fans in CDN and the U.S.
      1/18/13
    • Nuno Donato: @Charles, just wait and see :)
      1/18/13
    • Erick Lee: the difference between NOK and RIMM is that RIMM can differentiate itself more than NOK. WP8 is an arena for competitors in and of itself.
      1/18/13
    • Erick Lee: even though nok is best in wp8 right now, bb10 is its own ecosystem. this makes the lumia line more replaceable than bb10 phones are.
      1/18/13
    • Erick Lee: if someone in the future makes a better phone in wp8 than nokia does, then nokia is in trouble.
      1/18/13
    • Erick Lee: not saying it will happen cuz i'm long nok, but it's something to think about imo.
      1/18/13
    • Charles Santerre: Erick, if you look at aapl, it sold because it was cool. Grandmas did not do research. The cooler WP gets the better off NOK is regardless.

    • Abu Bakr Hussain: Just an anecode, but a big one,th whole of Novartis is shifting from BB to iphones and ipads - RIM is having to face a formidable competitor
      1/18/13
    • Abu Bakr Hussain: the 'plus' point of WP8 is it's not having to defend market share, it's breaking new ground. i'm astonished by the continued bull run on rim
      1/18/13
    • Abu Bakr Hussain: but.. whoever stays with rim until just before launch day is probably the smartest cookie
      1/18/13
    • Andreas Hopf: Abu - exactly. Who cares who loves BBs, iPhones or Lumias. We're in this to make (extra) money. For love, we have family and friends.
      1/18/13
    • Andreas Hopf: My worry is: when all is set and done on AAPL, RIMM, NOK, ALU, HPQ and the likes - where can we look for fallen angles next?
      1/18/13
    • Abu Bakr Hussain: Ha - yes - that's what i'm thinking of already! AMD might be in sony PS4 - so that might be an angle worth investigating
      1/19/13
    • Andreas Hopf: Yes! We put AMD's FirePro cards in our workstations; they're good value for money. We hope they'll stay in business. AMD - worth a look.
      1/19/13
    • Andreas Hopf: They are in dire straits, trying to focus on the energy efficient server and low powered device markets with NVDA breathing down their neck.
      1/19/13
    • Seppo Sahrakorpi: I am long AMD, and have been making some good trades on its way up. Nice volatility. My target is around $4...

    • Seppo Sahrakorpi: Another good one for me has been $CRAY. Pretty much straight up the last few months.
