Laswyguy, I am not sure why you think buying calls to cover a put position in a stock like this is a horrible idea. This stock doesn't trade sideways so 4/5 times one of his positions will win and enough to cover his cost basis for the other. People should really get over it and stop beating SE over the head about it. I have read all of SE's article about MCP and only disagreed with him in the last few. Anytime you buy a business (or invest in one), you always bring a guy with you that can give you a good downside argument. Buying stocks isn't just about buying good companies. It's about buying good companies at a fair price. My only recommendation SE, is when you might have a change of position in less than 72 hours, do your best to disclose it in your articles. Your May 7th article was disclosed as June puts only which can give your readers a sense of mistrust when they read your next article about the profit you made and they are caught holding the bag. I believe you want the best for your readers. It's just food for thought.

Aileron- This is for their preferred stock and it is for the same amount as last year.
(May 3, 2013) -- Molycorp, today announced that its Board of Directors has elected to declare a cash dividend on outstanding shares of its 5.50% Series A mandatory convertible preferred stock in an amount equal to $1.375 per share.
November 6, 2012) — Molycorp, Inc. (NYSE: MCP), today announced that its Board of Directors has elected to declare a cash dividend on outstanding shares of its 5.50% Series A mandatory convertible preferred stock in an amount equal to $1.375 per share.
Correct me if I am wrong, but if MCP is able to be the lowest cost producer, would they not have sold all their production before ROW miners can sell theirs? I imagine demand would rather pay the lowest price possible before surrendering to higher priced rare earths? If that is the case, shouldn't other miners be worried about surplus and not MCP?
I still feel like I have a long ways to go, but thank you. BKI, I would probably put the stock at current price $28.89 with an exit around $24. Insiders have been selling all year and revenue seems to be falling. Let me know what you think.
Perfect. I hold May $6 (5) calls at $16 per contract. I have been doing better on options with this stock than the stock itself. I bought Jan 4th 2013 w/call $9.50 strike at $27 per contract and sold for $162 per contract on Jan 2nd. I am still a young investor (about 3 years in) so I try to be careful how much skin I put in the game. The best thing I can do is listen to what people have to say and add it to my trading. Anyway, thanks for insight!
That stock scares me, but I think you are right. I told my dad to sell it at $660 and he did. I also told him it would drop below $450 (curious when it will stop, maybe $375?). I just can't put skin into that stock yet. Good luck though. I hope you make a killing.
Honestly, I appreciate the articles SE writes. I always enjoy the comments that follow. Usually a pretty good bears vs bulls debate. I am bullish at this price point, but I also see some thin ice MCP has to skate on for them to make it. If not, it will be heading south of $5 like SE is stating. Personally, I never claim to be right on a stock until the dust has settled.
Jack, I am interested in your knowledge about Ce being used to bond arsenic in water treatment. I understand this could be a possible cost saver. Also, Ce is cheap and abundant, could this be a good value added product for water treatment?

I'm with you on that move. Did you ever take that position on BKI? I am not sure anyone saw that buyout coming.
