Is this still an international story if no other countries use checks, which is the case? It's one of the worst things about America. Being now in the UK/Scandinavia the fee-less BACS (Bankers' Automated Clearing Services) transferring is f&cking great.

That said I about die from of ecstasy every time I use the check scan function in the BofA app.

Also...if Supercell can make $178M in Q1 2013 off two games? I hope that Distimo figure proves to be an embarrassment to it's publishers.

Yes, Glu is no Jack Kennedy, and there may be a steeper slope from 1 to 10 than thinkgaming.com predicts but still, if that slope didn't flatten out considerably how is Gameloft keeping the lights on.

    """That was the euro to dollar conversion 109 X .73 = 79. Because I'm an idiot! I've corrected it to € X 1.37 = USD."""

I saw that Distimo figure awhile ago and still can't process it? I want it to be absurd.

See the below for proof of absolutely nothing.

Look at Gameloft for a sec:
€109M in revenue for the first half of 2013, 25% from North America

    $149,330,000 X ?20%? = $29,886,000 the USA's share
    Say 50% of this was iOS = $14,933,000/182.5 = $81,824/day spread over 226 apps.

A quick ctrl-F for "gameloft" on AppAnnie on the 1st of each of the six months in question found Ironman 3 at #59 in May and Order and Chaos at #75 in January, but nothing else on the top 100 grossing list.

My conclusion: I need some snus, and I'm letting it ride on DH2014.

Thanks a lot for the article.

I'm sure we'll never get the actual numbers, but would you care to hazard a guess at the $ amount or % of revenue the TouchPlay promos (not ads) will bring in? 1-2%? I thought I read that this is the first Glu game that incorporates these promos correct? Did/does Zynga? I know nothing, and haven't thought about those questions critically.

Does Glu typically do quiet opens/betas in Sweden? http://bit.ly/17j6NVM

Not holding my breath for a reply, but wanted to chime in nonetheless.

I finally played the game, DH 2014, and it was really pretty great it stayed with me and I def would have spent $5 in it if I was a gamer.

  • Glu's Deer Hunter '14 Steals the Top Spot on the Mobile Charts from GTAV [View article]
Besides just poor general management, what else could trip them up?

They seem to have a great story going here: exploiting multiple new areas with numerous potentially positive unknowns, setting new internal records, substantial pipeline, no debt (right?). Are there onerous royalties, weird deferred expenses, or some inability to scale if DH14 mega blows up lurking? Any predictions for a tipping point either way on the android/iOS rankings or installed base?

OK, guess I could do the work myself, but thought I'd throw it out there to see if you were so inclined, great article. Am I right in thinking Glu is the only strictly mobile gaming play out there this side of Gameloft?

That unobtrusive free in-game gold system sounds utopian.

  • Insider Selling At Yelp Is A Non-Issue [View article]
Ahh, good times. There will be a right and a wrong, and thus the unique solace of investment "arguments". I hope Yelp bulldozes up the chump change more like Walton than LTCM. Hey it's Friday...

  • Insiders Are Selling Yelp [View article]
    ( I obviously don't know Sh*#, but that won't stop me)
This isn't a really a counter to your points (Trainer), and I bought in at $33 (#ofsharespurposelynot... because I've been a cult member for years. The following isn't meant to justify the current or any valuation but here are the reasons I like Yelp w/out expecting a buyout:
    1) I think in Europe and urban U.S. the vig on takeout/takeaway orders could be substantial, there are tons of really ugly pathetic takeaway aggregators in the UK and a specialized one just for pizza in Sweden, the # of reviews on these site is staggering, maybe the $ from this pales vs. ad revenue, but it's untapped now and Yelp could dominate it over night, I assume the same would be true for U.S. markets w/ many tiny non-chain players.
    2) Has Yelp gone mainstream a la Netflix (I remember when I couldn't get friends to join) in the U.S.? Doesn't that mean they have a massive ceiling? Once it does couldn't it grab a larger slice of that tricky Groupon pie that it already dabbles in? Does your aunt Martha review on Yelp yet, what will be the valuation when she does?
    3) I'm a YELP elite here in London (formerly of KC) and the perks are nice, ergo the sway with businesses is real if they are handing free opening month play tix out, maybe that will quickly fade if Yelp doesn't get them traction but it's real enough now, and the Yelp's review count in London pales to the U.S. majors.
    4) #3's point was supposed to be that given that I only just made my first table reservation through Yelp this summer so that can only go up.

This may seem crazy, but I think review quality doesn't matter, foodies are only part of the story, safe/fun options, info on the fly, dearth of decent alternatives to pulling up Yelp..., e.g. anyone who says uniques are going down is incorrect
I think it's things like this that DB is considering with their $81 price target. And srsly can the mentioning of non-FB threats please stop because I don't see how they exist.

Thanks for the article, I will def keep in mind when if things start to weaken, even if I think/hope the sales weren't indications....
