  • Is Brazil 'Investment-Grade' for Individual Investors? [View article]
    I also like CPL (CFPL Energia) an electric utility ...pays a nice dividend, and has risen lately from the mid 50's to over 70. Have owned TSP for 6 years, but never expect a big long-term cap gain trend from any of the Gov't owned utils. They fluctuate in pricing, and one can trade their slow moving cycles.

    Occasionally, one like SID, will have its dividend payout halted by the Brazilian federal tax authorities, until they reconcile their books, but eventually (6.5 mos. later) it does get paid. The Brazilian tax codes are beginning to get like ours, more and more complicated.
