  • Apple: No To iWatch This Year [View article]
I don't care .what it is, but TC needs to deliver a strong new product category. With the world's larges cash horde and strong patent library TC should be able to do more than talk about the great product pipeline - time to deliver. Apple is moving like a lumbering dinosaur in a world of greyhounds.

TC needs to be graded not for what Apple is, but what it could be.

Enough already Tim - do something or get the hell out of way.

Managment has a fidicuary obligation to its shareholders to use all "legal" means to minimize taxes. Nobody get a gold star for doing otherwise.

  • Should Apple Repurchase Shares? [View article]
I read that a consulting firm that values brand names valued Apple's brand at over $100 Billion.

Good article and I look forward to your update. The only thing that troubles me is that I think that Apple needs another business segment. If it were up to me I would use the cash to enter the transaction processing/ "iCard" business. Apple has the technology, brand name, customers base and infrastructure to make it happen. Seems like a no brainer to me - perhaps I am missing something?

There was a very good article on SA posted in 2012.positing that strategy.

A one time dividend is the worse possbile thing. The cash if gone and the stock price drops by the amount of the dividend. There is nothing gained.

Would you share your thinking ("guess") on 15-20% growth. Is this estimate with the current product lineup or are you expecting another disruptive product introduction?

A special one time dividend is the worse thing Apple could do. The cash would be gone and the stock would most likely drop by the amount of the dividend.

  • Why Most People Should Neither Trade Nor Try To Analyze Apple's Stock [View article]
Lot of thoughts and opinions here.

Less we forget.... I want to end the day on a positive by thinking of Apple's competitive advantages and why it is not just another company.

    1. By now it has about $145 BILLION in cash and growing by the
    minute. (no debt)
    2. Number 1 or 2 brand name in the world.
    3. Most admired company in the world.
    4. "gobs" of patents
    5. Growing retail operations are a "destination" shopping experience.
    6. Supply chain might have hit a few bumps due to high product demand, but Apple's supply chain is still one of the top-rated in the world.
    7.App business is # 1 and growing
    8. Cash provides abundant opporunites.

I am taking Tim Cook at his word - don't bet against Apple!

Dividends - Growth and Value - what not to like?

Good assessment of what happened Doc. The conundrum I see is that Apple cash is growing by the minute, but at this point just collecting dust as far as the market is concerned.

Apple has the cash and the technology to "disrupt" the transaction processing/credit card industry. There has been some speculation on this with the recent news on its fingerprint" technology.

The following article published on SA in 2012 makes a strong case.

Apple needs a source of revenues and profits not directly associated with its current product lineup (who knows what is in the pipeline)

Adjusting for cash Apple is being valued about the same as Yahoo And Apple is paying a dividend that will increase. . I don't consider Yahoo as having great (even adequate) growth prospects.

  • Apple: Up 10% From The Bottom And Going Higher [View article]
I think a one-time special dividend is about the worse thing Apple could do. PPS would drop after the exdividend date by the amount of the special dividend and probably fall from there and the cash paid would be gone from Apple's coffers.
