  • Vringo: Belief And Seeing Are Both Often Wrong  [View article]
While everyones frustration in the stock can be summarized by parts of the article, the biggest problem I have with the article is the issue of communication. The company may in fact be run like a law firm, but as such, why would any attorney communicate their particular position, good or bad, on ongoing litigation? You make it sound as if they should be whispering to the shareholders with no one else able to hear..."Psstt, hey shareholders, we got em by the short hairs, they'll fall apart in weeks!"... For my part the greatest frustration is the explosion in the overall market while money does sit idle with V (for now). If anyone is suffering because they over extended themselves with the V position, you can't blame the company. This is litigation and I'm sure there are so many moving parts behind the scenes, but to expect V's management to lift their kilts for all to see what they're working on it ridiculous.

Also, if the short interest data is to be believed, any attempt to accumulate more shares by investors appears to be met by those more than willing to short the shares to them, thus nullifying the effect on the PPS.

Appears the underlying message to be found in this legal pedagogy is to sell your shares now because the end is no where in sight. Nice try Markman, but you've shown your hand before and a much lower share price would work nicely into your plans.

You were obviously one of the lottery ticket holders that was expecting a quick double+. The company has delivered a Google victory and the courts will decide their fate. Also, I don't see how the company execs have enriched themselves on shareholders backs as they still hold a majority of their shares.

When MSFT attempted to file a patent and was told, in so many words, that it was already patented (prior arts), I would imagine willfull infringement commenced at that point. But hey, I'm no attorney...

  • Vringo Vs. Google: Google Did Not 'Flip-Flop' Or Concede To Ongoing Royalties  [View article]
Perhaps a delay allows GOOG more time to accumulate VRNG shares and articles such as this, while not terribly negative towards VRNG, is meant to keep people from accumulating as well.

I wonder if lecturing against patent trolls while profiting from a long in VRNG creates a conflict with the GOOG team...

Nice article James, now it's time for the shorts to try to punch holes in your scenarios which I will enjoy watching them spin their logic. I to believe this is a tremendous opportunity for the coming 18-36 months or until some very deep pockets also see the opportunity and want them as their own.

Modernist...As you apparently have made the right calls all along (according to you), I would love to hear your opinion (without beating around the bush or deferring the question to the most prestigious lawyer you know, Dan), what do you feel will be the final gross "winnings" that VRNG will be awarded from GOOG, et al?

Steve...If the banter is correct that the jury botched the calculations (3.5% of the damages sought rather then revs), can the judge seek out their intentions and correct or what the jury has stated will stick?

But with the news out and the shares of both companies reacting as they had, will the judge risk the backlash if he were to come out and say "oops, the jury left off zeros in their MIS-calculation, they REALLY meant XXX"?
