  • Prospect Capital: The Recent Weakness May Be A Buying Opportunity [View article]
It's not 12 percent. It's 9.4 percent because the rest is return of capital. And to answer your question mtge is a better buy. Do your homework.

  • Taking a bow for his mid-March call laying out American Capital Agency's (AGNC) quarter 6 weeks ahead of the earnings release, SA Pro's Dane Bowler - in as lucid an explanation (embargoed until Monday afternoon) of agency REITs as you're likely to find - says a cut in the annual dividend to the sustainable level of $3.50/share (30% below current) and a stock price of $25.50 would turn him bullish again. [View news story]
Too funny. Drop + core was 1.09. They have to pay that out at the least. I am not long or short but think that is a pretty stupid call... It wasn't hard to know agnc would have a bad quarter from a mark to market basis... Simply view agency mbs trading prices.

  • More on American Capital Mortgage Investment (MTGE) Q1 earnings: Like sister company AGNC (also with Gary Kain as CIO), MTGE reports a big mark-to-market loss ($1.66/share) on agency MBS. Loss partially offset by $0.64 gain on non-agency holdings. Spread income of $0.62 - NIM of 2.01%, off 6 bps from Q4. Book value of $24.25/share, down 5.8% from Dec. 31. Shares -2.3% AH after 3.5% loss in regular session. (PR[View news story]
I was surprised this didn't happen sooner actually.. Prices change on a daily basis.. you can't have every quarter be an up quarter. agency mbs got hammered and its a good thing too.. the spread was getting weak.

Hello. Do you not know how to check mortgage prices? What is wrong with you? I already knew and the market should have also that the book was going to be lower. Check prices today, NAV has rebounded almost completely. Stop being stupid. If you saw the NAV change on a daily basis you would shit your pants based on how you are behaving over the volatility last quarter. Simply put the hedges are designed for larger rate moves not 10-20 basis points. I am not long but i will take your shares gladly in mid to low 24s. I plan on buying 21,000 shares in the low to mid 24s if possible.

Fox, I am long 100 $14 calls on dell @ 0.38 for april, and I am long 100 $14 puts on dell for may @ 0.35. Need either a breakdown of the stock price (no buyout) or a buy out.. Either way I make money.. if the price stays here... i'll lose money. We'll see what happens.

  • Dell (DELL) gains 2.1% AH on word Blackstone may be part of a group mulling a bid for the company. The P-E firm is among those who signed a non-disclosure agreement earlier this month, allowing it to get a close look at Dell's books. [View news story]
After reading your article Dan and further inspecting DELL i decided to go long the may $14 calls at 0.45 today. 50 contracts to start, wish i bought more.they will probably double 2morrow... i'll hang in there for the higher bid though.

T-man, blackstone is coming up with a better offer. Watch the price fly high 2morrow.

as far as the special dividend route... all you have to do is... sell the day before EX when the stock is up near $22.

But most likely the bid is going to be $17-$19 and thats that.

Answer to fox: The same folks who bid $13.65 will increase the bid or watch icahn do a recap which is better then selling out at $13.65. Anyone who wanted to sell at $13.65 has already sold at higher prices in the market, the holders now all will vote down the offer and they want a better offer... if they dont get it.. recap time. If recap fails and no other bidders.. DELL goes to single digits, icahn might go in there and buy up as much as he can and then try to push the recap with a higher level of control. But Michael knows where all these roads go.. so i think there is a 90% chance of a higher offer but the market believes there is more than 60% chance of a higher offer right now. FOX - short at your own risk.. but don't cry when the $17 bid comes across your screen.
