  • Amazon (AMZN) launches a dedicated portion of its website to 3-D printers in a move that could help the burgeoning technology (DDD, SSYS, XONE) hit the mainstream. The company lists 3-D printers and accessories from major brands in the section. [View news story]
Ted, You selected my top Three! My 4th stock loosely tied to this group and that you may be interested in tracking, is Proto Labs (PRLB). This company was actually the one that brought me to our favorite "3" back in Oct of 2012 when I ventured into stocks to consider going into "The Next Industrial Revolution".

Nanotechnology has allowed the 50 inchTV flat screen you mention to become available in the near future. You can roll it up and unfurl when ready to view! I am certain that Amazon is at the end of the conveyor with arms open awaiting its retail distribution to be established.
Graphene is not an ingredient that the average home 3D home printer can handle or obtain at the present time. Hang on just a little bit longer!

  • Think Pink! How American Women Will Make Or Break Corporate Earnings Over The Next Decade [View article]
SPOT ON observations and report! Having inherited a portfolio and determined to hang onto every penny and then some; I MUST keep up just to stay in place. I appreciate very much, Southwest Airlines and Meg Whitman's HP! and I am determined to keep what I have to pass on to my children when I'm gone......and therefore I want to mention a new development that will cause all "surviving spouses" to take notice to the recent pending legislation being presented to "O" for signing in the near future. Hang on to your seats for this nuget...It has been proposed that "Spouse to Spouse IRA/401's will be passed through to the surviving spouse without time line or dispersal chart." This is not an exact quote, but the jist of it is. Currently, preserving your assets for passing down to future generations is assured. However, the new changes awaiting approval? Any passdowns from the surviving spouse to her designated beneficiaries will now include a 5 year time line to disburse the portfolio! Imagine the tax consequences of that one change if enacted. What do you think the tax bill will be for any given beneficiary? Do the math. The bottom line is that the government wants your money in "taxable circulation" and not sitting in a "401 vault" at their brokerage account(s).
So while everyone is else is checking out C-Span for the latest scandal and they are noteworthy, However, I'm watching the Daily Leaders schedule in Congress....

  • 3D Systems (DDD) and Stratasys (SSYS) both catch downgrades from William Bair in a note titled "Waiting for Expectations to Align With Reality." Neither firm, says Bair, appears well-positioned to be the leader of a "3rd industrial revolution ... many investors are buying shares of these two companies, at least in part, for the wrong reasons." Both are off 1.5-2% in the premarket. [View news story]
I too have been closely watching these two stocks and noticed the reference to "in everyone's home". I'll wait for residential applications, thank you! Have you ventured out to review all the medical applications that are being advanced over the past three years using this technology? Leaps and bounds. I'll continue to invest for the Long haul!!!

  • Bitcoin: I Hate To Say I Told You So... But I Told You So [View article]
I've stated this before on another sight but I will condense it again here"...Check IRS regulations, available online, and look up "Bartering" or "Barter".......when you attempt to subvert the IRS's regulations to tax income and/or trade (BICOIN), you had better make sure you are following the guidelines established for "like" assests or exchanges.
Don't let GREED cloud your judgement.....play by (BUY) the rules folks or you may find yourself in tax court.....

  • How Safe Is Waste Management's Dividend? [View article]
I was all set to throw in my 2 cents regarding declining WM's Cash Flow and contributor 6312061 above beat me to it. I am a strong proponent of Landfill Gas (LFG's); Natural Gas (NG's) and Liquid natural Gas (LNG's) and expanding usage through the transport industries as a whole. WM was one of the first to implement these fuels with their landfill operation. Throw in a well run company with a strong dividend...and I'm a supporter of WM for the LONG HAUL....no pun intended!

  • CVD Equipment - Certain Risks And Potentially Significant Returns [View article]
I basically "backed into" this stock (CVV) through my research into Graphite/Graphene back in October, 2012. I track progress on all companies dealing with Graphite based products and have come to the conclusion, that YES it is risky, however, I believe the potential for this one product to revolutionize across the board to hundreds of industries is unlimited. I'm jumping in now. The one fact that they relocated their nanographene technologies to upstate NY. indicates their commitment to grow their game.

  • Ford: The Time To Buy Is Fast Approaching [View article]
You mentioned China in this posting, but not in the way I expected the information to be revealed. Was my 12 hours straight through drive from NY to NC only a blur or did I listen to a financial news report around 3AM near the VA State line on Wednesday that Ford was bringing some of its manufacturing back to the US from China and that they have already purchased a plant in Detroit?
Pinch me now and tell me that if was all a dream.....Someone check it out; I am coming down from a "Highway High" right now. I'll check back in a few days.

Residential applications from 18 months ago are now "ancient history" if you follow the markets. I'll wait for both an affordable model that can print out more than useless novelty widgets and products that can be reproduced at the same or less cost than can be purchased locally.
In the game of life, there are needs and wants. Do I need a 3D printer?
