You have to understand the history of the area. Russia is not "taking over" Crimea. The area is filled with retired Russian military and is as pro-Russia as Colorado is pro-America. We are the anti-Democratic aggressors in the area. Putin is on the side of the majority and is supporting the will of the people.

  • The United States Dollar In Early 2014: Short-Term And Longer-Term Outlook [View article]
Good article. Well founded. I've been on the long side of the dollar for a while, thinking that Washington would wake up. Choosing Yellen showed that they have no interest in responsible monetary policy.

  • QE To Continue [View instapost]
I actually believe that once the QE ends, the equity bubble will burst and people will move into bonds. So, I don't think that the rates will rise much.

If anyone is using TDAmeritrade, you are being taken to the cleaners. See the FINRA judgements against Ameritrade at Particulars at And

TDA violates Maryland Code Section 10-402, lying about recording for "QC purposes" & not permitting them to be used

How can anybody trust any financials coming out of US companies when we have a government that doesn't require them to tell you what their assets are worth (mark to market). Plus, is there any First World government as hostile to investors , e.g. Ford, who puts their legal rights below what is good for the unions?

I don't understand your calculations on SWC. 2.6 million ounces at about $500/oz is $1.3 billion. SWC's market cap is $1.49 billion according to SeekingAlpha.

I don't see the 12 times. Please explain.

I agree with Avi's comments. CEP has some solid financials now, thanks to superior debt and expense control measures.

  • We're Out of Recession, But a Long Way from Recovery [View article]
I ended up being right as the 0bama administration revised the GDP numbers down a record amount over the next two months.

Add that to the 10% revision up of unemployment.

Now they say unemployment is falling, but the reason is that people have given up looking for work.

This government is redefining the word "revised". They are trying to "hope" us out of the recession and producing a bubble in the market. Don't trust anything coming out. This bubble is about to burst.

In fact, David Resler, economist, Nomura Global Economics writes: The most important "surprise" was the larger-than expected drop in inventories [down at a $131 billion rate in the quarter]. That implies that businesses are further along in their drive to realign stocks with current demand and suggests they must soon rely more heavily on current period production to satisfy on-going growth in demand. Score that as a positive for the outlook. But other details look less promising. ... State and local governments [where spending fell at a 1.1% pace] seem likely to face tougher cutbacks with no further boost from the fiscal stimulus while defense spending is likely to cool. latimesblogs.latimes.c...

I thought the GDP was gross domestic PRODUCT. How can we be producing so much more more with fewer workers? I could see a modest rise as workers put in more hours, but 3% more? Come on. What is the REAL GDP number after the double digit devaluation of the dollar is counted in? Could it be that we are rejoicing over the devaluation of the dollar and reduction of inventory?
