Thomas, my thinking was identical to yours. Except I did not do multiple accounts, only one. Today it was reported that even PPG executives tendered shares. I honestly couldn't tell if John was purposely misleading folks or was just foolish.
In my mind the deal was designed this way for 3 reasons. 1. Tax purposes. 2. The deal structure was designed in a way that is a turn-off for most investors (have to actually read and think it through), which allows exectives to take advantage. 3. Reduces PPG share count to help boost EPS for future quarters.
