Goalkick - Obama has done this? How about giving credit to the oil companies taking risks and developing/improving technology? If Obama has done so much to increase production, why are the government controlled lands leases (for new oil/gas exploration) down significantly?
What about the Keystone pipeline? IMO Obama cares more about being reelected than he does about the long term fate of our country's energy needs.
Wasn't it just a few years ago that the board voted to reimburse the CEO's huge loss in his stock purchases? Sounds like he can be aggressive with his stock (leveraging it ) if he feels another bailout from shareholders will be there. In my opinion, this company falls big time someday.

I think if politicians could see the light as suggested by the author, they could still pass an energy plan and direct our country's energy path for the future (nat gas or LNG for our vehicles). By leading, I think our govt. should pass tax incentives for making conversion easier on corporations and small businesses.
Even if the government was to spend some money on infrastructure, as a conservative and Tea Party guy, I would even support government spending if it helps wane us from our dependence on imported oil.
