  • Soaring BlackBerry Is Flying Too Close To The Sun [View article]
The title of the article seems outdated. If it was during when RIMM (now BBRY) was valued at $140/share, it would've made more sense.

I look at BBRY as a startup who has so much potential, with over $1b quarterly sales and a fan base that is extremely strong.

  • BlackBerry Sells Out In 90 Minutes At Selfridges [View article]
Berry season is here! As much as I like apples (please don't have this mistaken with Apple), I must admit, Love Berry!!!

Thanks Mr. Collins! You're a fine scholar, and a gentleman. :)

  • Throwing In The Towel On My BlackBerry Shares [View article]
'Beloved blackberry', 'anxiously awaited'? Really?? I don't think anyone long BBRY would agree with these sentiments. This article is either rigged or the author needs to learn the meaning of beloved. I apperciate the fighting spirit BBRY has kept throughout the toughest times, and will not backout of whatever the fate may be, because I believe. 6/28, here we come!!!

  • BlackBerry Is A Good Short-Term Bet: Facebook Might Buy It [View article]
I appreciate the thought of 'betting', but unfortunately this is the same mind set that has hurt this company and its potential so much. This is a really innovative company that has merely become a speculation play; truly unfortunate IMHO.

Thanks Joseph, I think BBRY had really been stuck in a vicious cycle and think their balance sheet will be its biggest contributor to a turnaround.

  • BlackBerry (BBRY -6.9%) plummets as the WSJ reports AT&T (T) "doesn't appear to be highlighting" the Z10 on its launch day, or "giving it prominent shelf space at its stores." The paper observes "fewer than 20 people" arrived at two Manhattan AT&T stores to see the Z10, and that a San Francisco store chose to display it "at a back corner of the store, away from a large sign advertising the iPhone 5." That's just it; no matter how hard BlackBerry tries, alliance between Apple and carriers here in the US will not let BB succeed. I went to Minneapolis, MN (one state that is (was) pro-BB), and there was no enthusiasm what-so-ever from the staff at ATT; and ATT did not even take the effort to train the staff. I mean, if carriers are really eagar for diversity in their smartphone offerings, they should really work with manufacturers like BB to get the word out there. Hardly anyone I know even knew ATT is to offer Z10 devices today.

  • BlackBerry Messenger is coming to iOS and Android this summer, BlackBerry (BBRY -4.5%) announces at Live (webcast). Had this move been made 2-3 years ago, BlackBerry would've had a shot at dominating a giant mobile IM market. But now, it faces intense competition from the likes of WhatsApp, Kik, Viber, and Facebook Messenger, many of whom have 100M+ users. Nonetheless, an installed base of 60M users gives BBM a chance to make some headway. BlackBerry is also launching BBM Channels, a platform for connecting to brands and celebrities, and Thorsten Heins promises the iOS/Android versions of BBM will eventually support VoIP and screen sharing. [View news story]
My wife messaged me via whatsapp about medicine she had to take... a minute later she got a text from an anonymous number advertising some pills... i.e. am glad we'll be able to talk via BBM, a secure platform, until I convert her to bb10 device!!! :D

  • Wells Fargo and Jefferies do their best to defend BlackBerry (BBRY -3.6%) as shares fall due to Goldman's downgrade and reports of a soft AT&T Z10 launch. "We think demand is slightly better than our very modest expectations," writes Jefferies' Peter Misek after conducting checks at 30+ stores. He adds Z10 interest from AT&T's business channels is healthy, and that checks indicate Verizon's business sales are strong. Wells Fargo's Maynard Um says he thinks Z10 sales to BlackBerry's installed base remain solid. [View news story]
'Betting' is what crashed our market historically; GS needs to stop betting all the time and thug their way into things, and needs to start 'investing'. Someone needs to remind them how to do that I guess...

I really hope this is the case. Frankly all I've been hearing recently are companies not looking to support BB10 just because they do not want to expenditure to refresh BES servers...

  • BlackBerry's BBM Is A Threat To Facebook And Twitter, Here's Why [View article]
Appreciate the effort, George. It takes a lot of patience at courage to stand up and speak in front of so many naysayers.

I agree, BBM having 80m users on mobile, and with other platforms that are matured in their model already, competitors do (and should) look at BBM is a threat. If things go the BlackBerry way or not is a different story, but there is high possibility of it.

Long BBRY and its spirit to fight yet another day.

Interesting. Being that bbry has a relatively stronger grip over the African continent, shouldn't it target US market first to reach a broader cross platform community?

  • RIM, Sirius, BofA And Level 3: Catching Falling Knives [View article]
Rocco, awesome insight as usual. I am more a fan of rising markets than falling, but I always look forward to your outlook.

RIM, though a company run by stubborn management, has set a class for itself. I ultimately want innovation to keep rising, and I want human race to get intelligent as a whole, and competition from all directions is good as long as it's a healthy one. AAPL and GOOG are doing amazing, and I hope they continue to, but along the way, we should be looking to boost morale for the markets in general so innovation is not compromised...

Keep it up SA community. You guys give me something to begin & end my day with! (Oh, and give me something to read during lunch) :-)

PS > I came on this site to learn about markets, not English. Mission accomplished...
