I have been involved in the buy side investment world for the past 15 years. I started out down the path of becoming a quant, but with experience in the business I developed a very healthy skepticism of models and their outputs and I am now what I consider to be an interesting hybrid. Quant skills that allow me to understand and communicate with the most technical investors, yet enough qualitative skills to know that models do fail. I have experience trading fixed income securities (primarily high yield, but also investment grade corporates, treasuries, and soveriegns), stocks (primarily US traded equities), futures (almost exclusively index futures), options, currencies, and a host of other derivatives (structured products in the ABS world primarily as well as significant CDS experience). With that comes portfolio and risk management experience as well. Presently, I run a small multi-strategy hedge fund focused primarily on the US equities market.
