  • Japan's Two-Decade Deflationary Spiral Is About To End [View article]
excellent analysis, how come no body talk about Japan's lack of natural resources, things that can bring money into the country, the Japanese are using other peoples resources and making money with their labor, but as mentioned in the article they are running out of young laborers, they used to be able to overcome this by invading other countries before....China, Southeast Asia ....now they cannot. In addition they have China as their big competitor and their friend the US is having problem and cannot help them like before....

M 1955, abortions are not forced on the pregnant as the western liberal media has had suggested before, there are lots of abortion but most of them are for economic necessity, and cultural necessity...millions of abortions are exaggeration by some media again....I know in Chengdu....that infertility clinics and hospital are extremely busy with trying to get women pregnant

I work in a maternity hospital....there are abortions but not sex selected...it's illegal for the hospital ultrasonographer to tell a patient the sex of the baby.....I have seen family that treasures female more than male....in addition a female in China has as much chance to be a CEO of a company as a male....at times I feel the sexes are more equal in China that North America and even Europe....even in history China has had females in the army and government.....as for poverty....come on guys every country has it....I have see the poorest town in the Mississippi delta with both black and white collecting welfare and just vegetating their lives away.....on the other hand the Chinese poor are out there picking up garbages and recycling....China has come a long way since Mao, there are 3-4000 new cars getting on the road daily in Chengdu......this country is a young country compared to America and Europe and even Japan.....it will continue to grow and will be easier for the single party government to guide it's growth rather than the so called "demo crazy" government where the political parties exist for the party's sake and now less and less for the people like in the US......in addition some of comments said that China is not creative and just uses and copies the West's invention....where were these comments when Japan did the same thing and became such a rich country.....South Korea is doing the same thing....

Why do we have to be a "consumer"/ a country have to have some prescribed percentage of consumer like you said? For whose benefit is consuming a lot is it? Let's look at an individual....why do I have to consume more than I need or consume a certain percentage? If I produce or earn 100, do I have to consume more than 50% of it? Why can I not consume only 30 and save the rest for the future. Then, let's look at a family, what happen when a family consume more than they can save for future needs.....if each members of the family produces under 100 why do we have to consume 50%...for whose benefits? Now, lets look at a country....why does a country have to consume more than 50% or like the US consuming more than 100% and ends up in debt.....1.5 trillion to China and a little less to Japan....It even owes Brazil money....that's from "consuming". Isn't this also the case of Europe....except the Germans.....all the other countries are consuming, consuming, consuming....now, how does a country/family/individual make money ? A country can make money by stealing (what the poor European countries did from all around the world...including China), by selling natural resources, manufactured goods, technology, etc.....and a country becomes rich when it earns more than it consume.....and I see China's consuming population at different level....the rich consume extravagantly because they can afford it.....not going in debt....like the US.....the poor consume what ever they need......a bowl of noodles in the street for 4 yuan...and not starve.....this is a long way from when Mao started this new China trip....where many more people starve and cannot buy food even if you have money....

This is a reply for both lturner0512 above and BlueSkyForever. I have been in China for more than 10 mos and had seen it grow since 1998......yes "GROW". Mr Tilson has written his article with the least "American style" opinionated writings I've ever read. America has been so used to "ruling" and telling what "freedom" is to the rest of the world and had and is now still going to war for this so called "freedom".....where did it get her: 2-3 trillions $ debt, two Korea's, Vietnam.....Saigon now called Uncle Ho's city....Afgan, Iraq, Egypt, Africa, and South America..any good story of a good, rich and powerful "free" country American Style? Free speech and internet...what happened to Mr. Snowden....what is free is defined by whoever it should be free....BlueSky...do you believe in what Mr. Obama say about Bengazi, Obamacare...etc....some people do like complaining about other people's pot being black.....

  • Endgame: A Book Review [View article]
Nations are like human beings, they age. The US being an older nation is relatively young compare to Europe and Japan. However, the US has grown to a point that entitlements are draining away it's vitality. Entitlements are affordable for rich countries. Spain, Italy, Greece, Portugal, France and England used to have rich government due to their transfer of wealth from the older countries of Asia, Africa and Americas. Now they have used up the wealth they have stolen and cannot give up the citizen's entitlements, they are imploding. How can the US not see what is coming? We need to review our medicare, medicaid, obamacare, and social security or will be needing to renew our country like Russia and China did before the US goes KABOOM.
