  • Thesis For Owning Corning: Finding Value In An Up Market  [View article]
After resisting for all of 2012 my wife's pleas/demands that I buy her an Apple MacBook Pro, I finally bought her a Sony Ultrabook with a touchscreen. I like the Sony Ultrabook except for Windows 8. It is quite different that Windows 7 and cumbersome for the user, but the
Op Sys is a Microsoft product and really does not impact GLW.

  • Struggle for Financial Reform in the Senate  [View article]
Americans are insufficiently educated in number of fields including health and finance that can affect our lives in very substantial ways.
For example, when working in China many years ago (1990) a fellow American working in same factory wanted to leave immediately because he claimed that a worker at the plant had contracted hepatitis. At the time I knew that hepatitis was a liver disease, but I did not know how it was transmitted or that there was more than one type.

When it comes to finances, Americans should be better educated. But I think we need better regulation as well. The problem is how to do the regulations in an effective way. I think we should consider setting up the new consumer protection agency as part of the FDIC not the Federal Reserve or Treasury.
