  • Kinder Morgan Energy Partners Addresses Concerns [View article]
Well, I was able to buy back into KMR at a great price, having sold most of my holdings for a very tidy profit a good while back. Also was able to enter KMI at a great price.

Meanwhile, the LINE shares I picked up at rock bottom prices are still up considerably, even after the recent pullback.

But hey, some folks like to wait for the great press and buy higher for 'safety'. To each, his own.

  • Bakken Update: Frac Sand Pricing Could Go Parabolic In Q3 2014 [View article]
THanks for another great article. I'd been watching SLCA and stopped for some reason. Meanwhile, the HCLP I bought early on has done fantastically well.

If, at some point, the Federal Government opens up the export market, that could be another catalyst for increased production. Such interesting times we live in.

Kudos on a well-written, informative article which clearly outlined the various components of the business.

Much more pleasant than flipping through a .pdf presentation.

Just read an article on the topic of water in fraking. Sorry, I didn't save the link... In short, it uses WAY less water than coal and nuclear. Very efficient, comparatively.

  • Kinder Morgan Energy Partners Responds To Criticism [View article]
    From his bio at Barron's:

"Andrew Bary is an associate editor at Barron’s, The Dow Jones Business and Financial Weekly. He has been with Dow Jones & Company for 27 years, including the past 19 years at Barron’s. Mr. Bary now writes feature stories on a wide range of topics. He was named a senior editor at Barron’s in 1995 and an associate editor in 2006.

In 1983, Mr. Bary joined Dow Jones as a reporter for the Capital Markets Report (CMR) one of the Dow Jones newswires. He worked as a reporter and editor at CMR before joining Barron’s.

A Brooklyn native, Mr. Bary earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Princeton University in 1983. He lives in New Jersey with his wife and two daughters."

History degree... not an ounce of qualification in fiance or accounting. Which disturbs me.

Michael, if you're hoping for a double in a 'year or two', why not simply bu HK which is beaten up and a a low price relative to the value of he company? HK should more than double in the same time frame.

Agreed... I wondered if a 'live boy or dead girl' was involved... Regardless, the replacement does not inspire confidence. Which is the more important consideration, imo.

  • Polaris Industries - Great Long-Term Investment, Has Seen Runaway Momentum In 2013 [View article]
Unfortunately, a 'pullback' in PII appears to be quite small these days. Long PII, and want more at the low 120's... which I may not get.

  • Procter & Gamble: Expecting 6-7% Annual Dividend Growth Through 2018 [View article]
Dear Mr. McAleenan, I'd wondered where your excellent posts had gone... then I realized, somehow, I'd not 'followed' you. Oversight now corrected, I dropped in to share a very simple comment:

While some have complained your posts do not contain sufficient (ly tortured) logic, I believe your contributions are perfect for an enormous percentage of SA readers. the 3 S's... Slow, Steady, and Safe. Little downside to your picks. Even if bought at a bargain, which unexpectedly became a bigger bargain, the downside risk is automatically small based on the quality of the equity as well as recommending within a decent buy zone, while the upside has plenty of room to run, again, based on quality, relative value, and demand for 'blue chips.

Additionally, while you don't offer comparison to ''proven winners which brought a return of 347% in just one year!!! Act now!!!'' those who follow your advice, will end up, over time with a quality portfolio which will be hard to beat. Congratulations!

  • The Young And Restless Portfolio Has Had Spectacular Gains, Is It Time To Sell? [View article]
I missed your earlier pieces on the Y & R portfolio. However, I'm quite intrigued and will do some more research. It seems AMBA would be a good addition to my current holdings.

Many thanks for your excellent research and all the best to you and your Mrs.

  • Two 7% Yielders To Pick Up Here [View article]
    Hi Bret,

Just checked out ARCP. It's got the dreaded (D) after its ticker symbol. I'm wondering if they are behind on their filings w/ the SEC?

The put/call ratio is also up to 3.0. Something is going on.
