  • Is Copper The New Precious Metal [View instapost]
Hello Dave: Thank you for taking the time to comment on my blog. I appreciate your interest. Because I am an employee/insider of a copper producer (TSX:TVI) I am prohibited from giving investment advice (on any company).

What I can say is an ETF may be attractive investment option because of their low costs, tax efficiency, and stock-like features. I can also add that ETF's can be a viable option to diversify one's portfolio risk, particularly in emerging economies or geographic locations where you are unfamiliar with political risk etc.

Depending on your personal risk tolerance, you may also want to look at Exchange Traded Commodities. ETC's are investment vehicles (asset backed bonds, fully collateralized) that track the performance of an underlying commodity index including total return indices based on a single commodity. Similar to Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), they are traded and settled exactly like normal shares on their own dedicated segment. ETCs have market maker support with guaranteed liquidity, enabling investors to gain exposure to commodities, on-Exchange, during market hours.

For input on specific investments you may want to consult Dian Chu (see profile on seeking alpha) for some economical insight.

I can say that I do personally believe commodities, specifically emerging markets, will have a prosperous year, if that helps.

    Best Regards,

  • Are We Heading Toward a Market Crash by Jobless Recovery? [View article]
Great article as always Dian. I agree with Peterthepainter, "jobless recovery" is an oxy-moron. I also think any increase in employment will be seasonal (Black Friday through Boxing day) then more unemployment... long slow recovery ahead. Keep up the good writing!

  • Should Political Violence Interfere With Investment In The Philippines? I Don't Think So. [View instapost]
Hi Darrell, thank you for the question. In our case, we recognizes that the most effective front line security is the community where we operates. It's in our best interest to partner with the host and surrounding communities and businesses so they become important stakeholders in our operation. Because we have such strong local support, I am proud to say that there have been no recorded incidents, crimes or actions directly or indirectly related to TVI operations in the last 6 years. It is a safe place to mine and invest.

  • Report Reveals 175% Increase in Adoption of Twitter for Investor Relations during Q3 [View instapost]
Thanks for the update Darrell. This is excellent information for my senior management team and Board of Directors. I am fortunate that mine are on side with the whole social media experience, however, it never hurts to remind them how powerful it really is. These stats are perfect for my monthly reports to the Board. Thanks again.
