It Could Happen - Cramer's Mad Money (9/26/08) [View article]
Unfortunately, Jim Cramer's "Mad Money" and Fast Money are part of the problem. Look at the names of the shows "Mad Money" and "Fast Money". They are telling you how to quickly screw the person who's not watching the show. It's a vicious circle. They say "sell" and everyone sells blindly. And if you really pay attention, there are no real timeframes for anything on these shows, so what was bad advice can easily be swept under the carpet by explaining some other aspect of the market.
Look who's on top - Warren Buffett AKA "Slow Money" - as soon as we as a culture ween ourselves off of the idea that making a quick buck by doing absolutely nothing is admirable, we will be in far better shape. I am a young investor, but I will not subscribe to these trendy misinformed shows or this greed. If any of these analysts really want to make a difference, get off your shows, work for the Treasury and put your money where your mouth is.

again, this is another analysis that completely misses the company Apple has become. Apple is no longer a computer company. It is a LIFESTYLE company. When the economy is down, Apple prevails because people want some kind of entertainment to lift depressing circumstances. People are not going to give up music and you can buy a song for $.99, quickly, legally, and easily. When the economy is strong, Apple prevails because they will sell more gadgets, which is always fun. But even more important is the fact that when you are an Apple customer, you are changing over how your whole life is organized. My suggestion to analysts - get a mac laptop, a .mac account, and an iPhone. See how easy it is to sync all your information, back it up daily, send emails, and conduct business. Buy a song on iTunes. When you see how easy it all really is, you will change your tune as to whether or not it matters whether the rest of the economy is bad. Then again, Apple is the only stock I've stayed with the past 3 years and if it wasn't for skeptical analysts, I wouldn't have been able to buy low and get a 45% return year after year. Thank you!

Interesting article, John. I can only assume you're either trying to short it like the guy who tried to prove there was no seaweed in the clothes, or just upset that you missed the IPO. Either way, it's not professional to lie about the company and what you think are the trends. I'm sure you are smart, but I don't think you do Yoga or have any idea what is going on in the health and fitness community...
(1) yoga is not a fad and will likely be required as part of school exercise programs across the country in the coming years because every study is showing it is one of the best forms of preventative medicine out there. You will see entire generations growing up with yoga.
(2) that said, forget about yoga - this store appeals to anyone who is interested in fitness - go to a store and you will find very high quality clothes that last a very long time and even more importantly, there are plenty of things under $60 and there are no $60 T-shirts.
(3) they have free tailoring - I don't know any store that has that.
(4) every single woman I've talked to who buys something there says it makes them look thinner and feels great. You cannot fight that, John, it's like the laws of physics....this stock will be at $70 at the end of 2009.
(5) in the same way entire generations are growing up with yoga, they are growing up with iPods, which when they first came out, were shunned because they were too expensive. You will be as wrong about LULU as Herb Greenberg was about Apple years ago...
