  • Contagion Spreads: PIIGS Credit Default Spreads Rise on Greece Default Fears [View article]
Those that need the money the most, have to pay higher rates. That's the way it always is. Greece is in trouble and there's no easy fix.

  • Housing: 1.2 Million Fewer Households, More Overcrowding [View article]
What's the problem? It's more efficient for people to share a house and better for your social life than twitter or facebook. The empty houses will be needed as the US population is set to grow in coming years.

  • The Engineering of a Financial Crisis [View article]
This is an intelligent article but not objective. Politics is politics and we need to dump that stuff when looking at markets - especially old quotes by presidents long gone. There will be no depression.

When the crisis hit people were getting emotional and predicting the end of capitalism. But look away from the US and you can see the world economy is doing very well at the moment. India, China are growing strongly. Indonesia is booming. These are high growth economies which will need more US made goods. Cheer up and realize the opportunities!

  • Indonesia: The Latest Emerging Market Star [View article]
Actually, share prices look lofty now. All the good news is being priced in. Disappointments would lead to downside. And as for Indonesia allowing foreigners to buy property in the country that is over hyped and the devil is in the details!

  • Greece Is Not Under Control [View article]
There is something wrong with your chart/data.

    nominal GDP = real GDP+inflation

The chart seems to indicate real gdp of -12% and nominal gdp of -2%, implying inflation of 10%!!!!!!

All small companies which may not even be in business in 5 years time. I'd rather choose bigger companies that are less risky.

  • Why the iPad Will Flop [View article]
I tend to agree. A laptop is a far better investment. With an Ipad you have no connectivity, a low powered 1gz processor and a poor keyboard. And with the screen glare it doesn't cut it as a book reader either (unless you like headaches).

But it's still a nice toy - if you have the spare cash.

The trend is still up. More to come. But get ready for a correction - probably in 2011.

This is just hype. Yes it's a good product but a laptop is a far better investment. With an Ipad you have no connectivity, a low powered 1gz processor and a poor keyboard. And with the screen glare it doesn't cut it as a book reader either (unless you like headaches).

But it's still a nice toy - if you have the spare cash.

  • Rally to End Soon, Says Morgan Stanley [View article]
Morgan Stanley: Rally to end soon.

What happens: It lasts another 6 months as the global economy recovers further, driven by brisk growth in the world's most populous countries (China and India). China's industrial output was up an astonishing 20.7 percent year-over-year for January and February - and that's no April Fool).

Moral of the story: Be careful who you listen to.

  • China Growth to Exceed Original Predictions [View article]
Amazing. China's growth mainly reflects strong exports - meaning the global economy is doing pretty well. I'm even tempted to think this article might be an April Fool!

  • Why Are Bond Rates Surging? [View article]
Bond yields will rise because inflation will return. There is a pervasive myth that inflation will only occur ONLY if the economy is strong. That is SO wrong. I lived in the UK when growth was weak and inflation hit 15%+. Inflation comes from many factors but the driving force of US inflation shall come from: the huge base money increase; massive bond issuances, high govt spending; much higher demand for goods from China and India which will push up commodity prices again. Inflation will rise substantially over the next few years, believe me, and now is the time to sell bonds.
