Anyone think CLIR is being driven up artificially? I bought it a while ago, took a wash but held on, and now we're up again. So, I'd love to sell this crazy stock but I don't want to take the short tax hit. Just looking for some opinions.

You two up to your usual antics! All I know is that I've taken a beating on this stupid stock and I blame my inexperience. Benjamin, if you see this, where do you see CLIR in a year? Profitable? Making sales? Stock price?

Maybe because their market cap is $20 million and are one out of a million players in the game. It's like an article about Michael Jordan that doesn't reference the waterboy that hands him the Gatorade at halftime.

I'm inclined to agree, even though I'm an Apple guy. I use a PC at work, but I have my iPhone and iPad sitting right next to me. They help me in my job occassionally, but there's nothing like 2 monitors, a keyboard, and a mouse. And Excel and Word. I use Google Docs, but only for very non-intensive things. You just can't beat the Office Suite (though I wouldn't say the same thing about Windows).
How Apple Gave Wall Street The Middle Finger [View article]
I like that Apple is fighting back, but won't this be a case of "uncertainty"? Won't Wall Street tear AAPL to pieces because of this lack of information?
I'm also holding a slightly losing position (half at 410, half at 545). But there's no reason to panic. Just hold on to this for a few years, get your dividends (maybe with time it'll be at 3%), and then sell when you're ready. Everything will be ok.
Thanks so much for your story. I really like reading these types of real cases. The takeaway, for you, is that you did walk away with more than you started with. Why not just pocket the winnings and reinvest the original amount? Isn't that the secret to not going overboard in regular casino gambling?
Thanks so much for the great explanation. I realize it was a simple version, but I think I understood something about options for the first time. I can also see how people lose their shirts (and shorts) playing options. Or, how people come away with Ferraris... me, I'm sticking with a conservative dividend strategy. For now.
This entire time, with Jobs, the design team has been the ones that created the great devices we think of. As long as Jony Ivey is around, Apple will make innovative, excellent products. Tim Cook, as an executive, sure as hell better do everything in his power to keep Ivey at Apple and make sure he is happy and doing what he wants to do. I think Cook knows this, and the Forestall exit probably is the best example. If Ivey leaves, then I'd sell everything.
I don't know jack about options. Say you put 10,000$ in the Feb 15 540 calls... how much would you stand to make? I won't do this, don't worry, just interested.

I'd say it is #1. Why? CASH. Who has $120 billion in cash and growing? What is a company but a money maker? And who makes more money?
