  • Apple Earnings: What's Next? [View article]
Interesting analogy with neurotransmitters' role in psychiatric/psychological implications. Is there an enhanced decrease (an oxymoron) in endorphins/dopamine release after each expectation miss in animal models and can that be extrapolated to humans?. That would imply the reverse of law of diminishing returns (AAPL is following that law though).
Stock prices immediately following earnings report release is sometimes reported by options traders as volatility. Reading for today was 7% either-way. I guess the 11% drop came as a bigger shock to most investors/traders. Meanwhile, the people I follow on twitter are being gleeful at AAPL's implosion AH and its likely impact on S&P500 tomorrow. Maybe the journey to 1500 is halted and the pullback is now imminent?

I agree with your comment. Practically everyone's 401k or stock portfolio is connected to AAPL either directly, or via a Mutual fund or an ETF.
Tim Cook needs to accept that despite AAPL's growth, he cannot act like Steve Jobs and disregard the stock market, especially, when the theories about stock manipulation are floating around. OR he needs to come up with a blockbuster innovation soon.
If Tim Cook does not act, lets hope for a Warren Buffett-like intervention just to restore confidence.

  • Intel's Full-Year Guidance Is Actually Very Good [View article]
Thanks very much for mentioning Moore's observation. I have learnt something new from reading basic info on Wikipedia. I have always been baffled with why does electronics/semiconductor industry change so rapidly. Being in a profession that takes 12 years to bring a new drug into the market, it was always confounding me to see rapid pace of obsolesce in the technology sector

  • Caveat Emptor: Investing In India [View article]
Civil war in India? That is ABSOLUTE NONSENSE. I have not seen India less focused on religious/cultural/social issues ever in my 38 years. While India has immense poverty, the dysfunctional democratic institutions do provide an opportunity (albeit limited) for grievances redressal. CORRUPTION...Yes it is mind-boggling... FUNCTIONING ANARCHY....yes!...... CIVIL WAR..unlikely.

  • A 'Shot' Of Quality Brands Can Loosen Up Your Portfolio [View article]
Thanks for the piece of information on DEO. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that most brands that I drink belong to DEO. I wonder whether I can find any projections on prospects in India.
Being of Indian origin, I can tell you that India loves its whiskeys and I always carry a bottle or two when I visit India.
I am putting this on my watchlist as well.
    Thanks again.
