Age 79, retired transportation planner, afterward owner/operator of a small general used book store in Lancaster, PA. Had owned mutual funds but never had any real exposure to equities until October 2008 -- at which point I became aware of the fact that it was unlikely that I would be able to mess up our finances any worse than the pros had done. Three years later, I'm certain I've made just about every rookie mistake in the book, but our investments are still in the black and I think I'm becoming more prone to judgement than enthusiasm. (I think I've finally overcome the fatal attraction for microcap biotechnical firms...)
