  • 3 Reasons Why AMD Will Beat Expectations For Q4 2013 Earnings [View article]
Actually Richland achieved record shipments in desktops, so I am not sure why you think it did not due well. Litecoin mining might not hold for years but it will add millions to AMDs revenue which can never hurt and the first ASIC chip for light coin is not due until 2nd half of the year the earliest. Most gamers were waiting for custom cooled 290 cards so lite coin did not have much impact on them. However, I do agree that if supply can't catch up it will negatively impact AMD in the gaming market.

The stock is up because shorts are covering and people realized that AMD is actually selling Opterons to Verizon not Intel chips and that they got 1 billion from Apple. The stock will really take off once AMD announces its next custom chip customer. If you have not invested into AMD at that point it will be a bit too late and will probably miss a 1000% gain.

    A10 shipments.

  • AMD's Kaveri Looks Like A Dud [View article]
Finally a good analysis of the so called data that this article was based on. I agree with you fully. Intel is already having trouble just keeping all their fabs at full capacity. They have so much fab capacity they don't know what to do with it. They started fabing for some other companies but that will only take them so far. Intel will have a huge margin collapse coming up and their stock will take a huge hit. I am very tempted to short Intel at this point. It could generate a very good return. AMD has a lot going for it compared to where they were 12 months ago.

@Ashraf, I wish you would put your name as part of the title of your articles so that i would not click on them. You are one of the most biased and self serving writers on SA. It almost seems that you write these articles just to make some money. After all they have no investment value. SA should have a way to exclude certain authors from once profile.

When the CEO was asked about it he just said that they are concentrating on making money for the year. So I expect a small Q1 loss.

There are other people that say the same about Nvidia. You should have gone with a different vendor. However, AMD will have almost every game optimized for their platform. Nvidia will be an after thought. This has already been proven with BF4 beta where Nvidia cards can't play the game without shuttering which makes the game unplayable on those Nvidia cards.

I would not reply to Ashraf he is nothing but a troll. He is still upset that he lost a bunch of money on AMD last year and can't get over it.

I got the impression that AMD was a bit overwhelmed this lat two quarters with the console business. After all they had to deliver the equivalent of a 7970 under a 100 USD and still turn a profit. That by it self was an achievement. So something had to give and it was the laptop processors. They ended up pushing the desktop processors produced by GF instead of the low powered Kabini and Temash processors produced by TSMC. AMD is in an excellent position and will really start accelerating next year. Kaveri will easily match anything Intel has in the mid-range in IPC and will be years ahead in graphics. The console wins will give AMD huge advantage over Nvidia in gaming, just look at Sleeping Dog where a 7970 bests a 780 for half the price, and HSA enabled APUs will overtake Intel as the leader in server as well as desktop processors. I really don't think people realize how things will change over the next 18 months.

  • Questions I Would Like To See Answered Regarding Bay Trail At IDF [View article]
I guess it shows how much you know. You can call a chip 64bit but if it does not support 64bit windows it might as well be 32bit. Once they have to run 64bit windows they will not be as power efficient. It has already been shown that Intel is 3 years behind on graphics and their core is about as fast as the jaguar. So they are over a year behind AMD. Once again people believe in Intel hype which will eventually cost you when the stock tanks. Intel will be below 20 with in 3 to 4 months.

  • Intel's Bay Trail Arrives And Finally Proves ARM Wrong [View article]
I believe AMD is overwhelmed at the moment. Their shipments for Q3 and Q4 is more then what they shipped all of last year. PS4 and XBox One account for 6+ million chips and these chips are not small. The XBox one chip is the same size as the 7970 and there is a rumors that XBox is using a stacked chip. In which case you can increase that number by 25% at least. They are also in the new IMac Pro that will also require millions of FirePro chips and they are lunching a new GPU for Xmas. They must be producing over a 100 million chips over Q3 and Q4. I would not be surprised if they guide to 1.75 billion for Q4. I expect Intel's number to decline significantly in Q3 and Q4 over 2012.

Don't see what the fuss is about. Its a 32bit chip that is compared against a 64bit chip. You would think it would use less power just because of that. Why would anybody want to buy one of those. Everything has moved on to 64bit even ARM and Intel wants everyone to go back to 32bit. The next version of Windows might not even have a 32bit version. Intel came up with an inferior product so that they can keep power consumption down and people like Ashraf thinks is the greatest thing since sliced cheese. Not to mention that AMD will have sub 2W TDP chips out early next year with unified memory architecture.

  • Intel: Major Catalyst Coming On July 22 [View article]
Altera has FPGAs that might work on a 14nm process. However, FPGAs are very simple compared to an x86 processors with L1, L2 and L3 cache and in case of intel even high speed sdram and GPU all crammed into a single chip. You need to do some research before posting about stuff you clearly have no understanding.

Intel was hoping they could workout the issues but according to rumors they did not. AMD seems to have delayed Kaveri as well these things happen. One should be very careful taking a company statements at face value. After all they all start out with a disclaimer.

  • Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) CEO Discusses Q2 2013 Results - Earnings Call Transcript [View article]
Yes because people will wait until 2H of 2014 to get Broadwell. AMD has design wins that will not just disappear. The era of paying more for a computing device because it has Intel inside is the past and will not come back. Intel has nothing to offer that is better then Jaguar+GNC for at least a year. Plus people don't understand that windows 8.1 will be highly optimized for Jaguar and GNC so that it will run as smooth as possible on XBox One.

It just came out that Intel pushed off Broadwell to the 2H of 2014. That puts it mostly into 2015. Just as I have been saying for a while. 14nm is not going well and Intel is loosing market share to ARM and AMD. This trend will accelerate in 2014 significantly. I would get out of the stock while it is still above 20.
