Good piece Croc and thank you.

The drug sector is a tough study for most and that includes yours
truly..........however the performance and promise of ABT has me
long with several other household drug mfg. names.

An exciting time for the space!

  • 3D Systems Secondary Provides A Buying Opportunity [View article]
Thank you Josh and the dimunition of share price after the secondary certainly offers anyone who thought they "missed
the boat" a terrific entry level.

Now allow me as a shareholder prior to the secondary to

  • Market recap: Stocks clawed back from early losses but still finished lower, as all three major averages closed their worst month in two years. Stocks, weighed by a raft of weak U.S. economic data (I, II, III) that sent Treasury yields to new record lows, bounced after a story (later clarified) suggesting the IMF is working on a “rescue loan” for Spain. NYSE decliners led gainers seven to six.  [View news story]
    Jerry,

Regardless of where and how one derives that "feeling of falling",being off the field of battle can prove to be the most profitable front to side with.

Me ? I never feel the need to show my mettle in what could be a blood bath and there has yet to be designed a methodology to calm the water and prosper regardless of what is going on every
    day in all corners.

    Best going forward.........

  • Tracking George Soros' Portfolio - Q4 2011 Update [View article]
By the looks of Mr.Soros I would estimate his passing over 10 years ago.Now that would be the penultimate passive manager !

Interviewed by Charlie Rose some time ago...Mr.Rose,the ever insightful and intuitive interview maven threw out the "Do you believe in God" query at his guest to which Soros replied, in a manner I could only describe as contemptuous, with a "No" while shaking his head.

I beg your respective pardons as this is, after all ,is a platform for the intelligent and thoughtful discussion of equities and methods
    to profit herein.

Soros has held many enormous positions in stocks, commodities,
long and shorter term convertible issues, etc.and while I feel I perform as much due diligence as anyone ( which includes the methods and views of the esoteric measures by those much more
versed and proven than I ) I now have another mission. That is to look real hard at the holdings of a guy such as George Soros who,
at first, seems to be weighed down by some real junk and invariably
    deemed a highly speculative bunch.

    Good trading be yours,

    Respectfully,

    Tom

  • 5 Smart Stocks To Consider Buying To Hold Forever [View article]
Mr. Williams..........boy oh boy ........do we throw that "genius" label
around ! Are you going to put Buffett and Grantham in the same league as Galileo, Da Vinci, Sir Issac Newton, Bethoven, Mozart ?

The two you have put on hallowed ground have armies of analysts, good investment bankers on call, and all the assistance these times require for selections and value added side deals.

In fact BRK is not exactly burning down the house on performance. What is that genius to do ?

Please kind sir, I do heartily agree with your selections with the exception of MO. I think MO is going to hit some headwinds and
were it not for Europe and Asia they would be an endangered species.

The long term...buy...hold and reinvest the dividend will always win out if you have the time and patience (a must for today's equity
    environment ).

Thank you for the piece and may you and yours
    have a great 2012.

  • After getting crushed yesterday on account of weak 2012 guidance, Athenahealth (ATHN +1.5%) is bouncing a little today following upgrades from Oppenheimer, Citi, and Leerink Swann. Leerink touts the company's revenue growth outlook and product quality, and expects improving margins by the end of 2012.  [View news story]
ATHN is in a sweet spot as the mandatory records availability,
sharing thereof etc.,etc.,is upon the industry.

It appears that ATHN has some unique advantages to accomplish
the tasks required and remain friendly to doctors and administrators.

A lot of well armed competition in this arena but the timing is right to enter at a sensible price.

  • Jim Cramer Has Reversed On Apple Because He Doesn't Understand It [View article]
    Mr.Schwarz.............

I'm with you on the "real" AAPL story going forward.

The stock is a winner in all respects and especially in what they will
unveil in time however the folks who make the most noise and that
CNBC crowd seems intent on muting enthusiasm.

I would fade the fact that the current naysayers would not dare
short AAPL as when the current and future holders see what
men like yourself know, this "beast" would just run them over.

  • 7 Surprising Hedge Fund Favorite Stocks [View article]
I would never expect to be as smart as the guys at the Hedge Funds.
I don't have access to management or have a crew that can be assigned a part of the big picture to analyze and report on individualy.Nor the capital to step-up and accumulate a substantial position. As such I look at C from afar........

That said I think C is a dog and with fleas to boot.

Why ? The asset base for one thing is not being classified honestly. How do I know this ? Every bank and finance company does it. C is not selling down here (pre-reverse split) because all is just nice and rosy.

Pandit has shown nothing despite having a global list of opportunity.

Now, someone please tell me just what the hell Dick Parsons brings to any party.

Hedge Funds just looking for a sudden pop ? Don't count on it
    Smart Money !

  • EMC Corp.: Is This High-Flying Tech Stock Headed Down? [View article]
Thank you David and we really don't come up with any answers
to what should be an easy one.Certainly the short interest numbers
could and perhaps should be alarming in sight of both EMC &
VMW earnings, P:Es, etc. but I don't see it either other than the EMC
short positions are a relatively cheap bet on the VMW performance
in the cloud computing space coming up way short.

Hey.......I love shorts !!!! When they have to cover it's Christmas
    Eve for the longs.

  • Wynn Resorts Crushes Estimates; Thanks, Macau [View article]
There is an opportunity with WYNMF for long term investors that does not come along too often. The majority owner (Steve Wynn) is the best operator of casinos in Las Vegas. That aside this operation with it's location and dedicated customer base is poised to benefit immensely
    off that customer's leisure habits.

For now I bought it, I hold it, and I do not worry about what I don't know with Wynn at the helm.
