  • Beware Long-Term Damage From Stock Market Bubble Forming Now [View article]
In a normal cycle shouldn't the market exceed the former busting point for a rally before it breaks down again. Every time the market goes up are we going to call it a bubble from now on. To me this is all just a regular cycle. Nothing much new. The Dow 30 is just pretty much back to where it was in 2007. All the stocks in it are pretty much good dividend payers and people with savings are going to these stocks. Going to a stock to get a decent dividend...does that make it a bubble? Not yet in my opinion. People are paying somewhat of a premium for an assure 3 to 5 % in comfortable stocks that don't fluctuate much even in crashes.
Bubbles infer fear...Ok we had bubbles in Tech, gold and real estate...could have one in blue chips in the future...but I don't think it si around the corner.
To the author ...honestly....you can't say "Bubble is forming" and then say you" Don't expect a bubble to form in a year."
It is either not here ....forming ...or breaking....
I am happy to watch the Dow 30 for at least 1500 more points.

  • BlackBerry (BBRY -1.2%) launches the mid-range Q5 QWERTY BB10 phone as Thorsten Heins delivers his keynote at the BlackBerry Live conference (webcast). Sporting a 3.1" touchscreen (like the Q10), the Q5 resembles the rumored R10, and will launch in various emerging markets starting in July. BlackBerry has also updated the Z10's software to support personalized notifications, click to call, and a few other features. [View news story]
Lousy day...no doubt Einstien has sold on the news.

  • Royal Bank of Canada (RY) is raised to Hold from Sell at Morgan Stanley. Canadian lenders have been under just a bit of pressure lately as some point to them as the bagholders (I, II) when the Canadian property boom goes bust. [View news story]
Frig ...I think I've made like 21% in the last year+.5 on Royal. Is Morgan Stanley mentally challenged? RY is one of the best Banks in the world. The real estate bubble may exist in the big cities. It may burst. Also the apocalypse may occur tomorrow.

  • BlackBerry (BBRY) +1.2% after Barron's provides a semi-favorable writeup about the potential of its BES 10 mobile device management (MDM) platform and network operations centers. The fact BlackBerry can pair its MDM software with a secure network could give it an edge, Barron's notes. However, it also points out MDM competition from startups (AirWatch, MobileIron) and bigger IT names (SAP, Citrix) is intense - Airwatch's chairman argues BES 10 is still "woefully behind" in supporting advanced management features for iOS/Android, such as FIPS 140 encryption. [View news story]
I think the price increase is due to the BIG BBRY SHINDIG!
The Barron's piece is just noise.

  • Will BlackBerry's Cheap Data Strategy Stem Market Share Loss In India? [View article]
Totally fair in my opinion. Not negative. BBRY get to work on those cheaper phones for India , and China etc.

  • BlackBerry (BBRY +2%) spikes higher on rumors Carl Icahn has bought a stake in the company. H-P was the beneficiary of such rumors a couple weeks ago. Earlier today, Scotia Capital argued a strategic partner such as IBM (once reported to be interested in BBRY's network operations centers) is likely to buy the company. [View news story]
Lets see if we can start a better rumor for another 2%.

"Apple has made an offer of 40$ a share for BBRY because they can no longer compete."
CEO claims ..."If you can't beat 'em join 'em!"

  • Early feedback on U.K./Canadian BlackBerry Q10 (BBRY -4%) sales indicate volumes below expectations, says Cleveland Research. The firm also thinks Z10 sell-thru is likely half of what it was around launch time, and believes BB10 build targets for the next few quarters could fall to 6M-8M from 10M-12M. Likewise, Pac Crest remains bearish, and calls the U.K./Canadian Q10 launches a "mess." The remarks follow a pessimistic note about BB10 sales on Monday from Canaccord, and one on April 25 from Wedge Partners. Jefferies has been more positive. [View news story]
BBRY is behaving predictably eh? Higher highs and higher lows. Every time it hits 15 to 16 we get a plethora of bad news and down she goes again. This is a healthy process I think. Just buy at 13 and sell at 15 and etc.

  • Why A Stock Market Bubble Is Forming Right Now [View article]
If a bubble isn't forming then the Market is crashing. This is the history of the market. So a bubble is forming ...do I get out at Dow 15, 17 or 20 thousand?
This is the Question I ask every day. Honestly I think maybe @16.5 I'll go cash for a while.
We can't afford a burst Bubble right now so look for all that money being created.
The world isn't fair and we don't hold the cards. If you don't take risks you will get less than 2% on your savings.

  • The DOD has approved the use of BB10 phones and tablets on its networks, BlackBerry (BBRY) announces. The statement comes a couple days after the WSJ reported the DOD will sign off on the use of iPhones and iPads, as well as Samsung Galaxy phones. In March, Electronista reported an order is on tap for 650K iOS devices that will replace 470K BlackBerrys; the DOD denied the part about dumping BlackBerry, but didn't confirm or deny the part about the iOS orders.  (PR[View news story]
I imagine an order as big as DOD needs to be very careful in the selection of Phones. They can take political heat if they throw their support in any direction particularly when the biggest American company in the worlds stock price is involved.
I wouldn't think we will get much but here say on the numbers until it affects someones bottom line.
It is reported they already have over 7 hundred thou BBs. I would expect a good portion will stay with BB considering ease of switching.

  • Why Now Is A Good Time To Buy BlackBerry [View article]
I am laughing because when you said time to buy at 11:30 or so the price started climbing and we will break even for the day. (But who is paying attention (me).
Congrats on your perfect micro call. Please call for a double bagger this month!

  • A Bullish Case For BlackBerry, The Death Of Tablets And A Strong Q10 Launch [View article]
I think the phone plugs into your TV doesn't it with a USB at one end? I know the playbook does. I suppose with a wireless large keyboard, the phone and a Big @ss TV you already have a computer experience. One could also put a port where you drop your phone in and it attaches to more power etc.
Maybe QNX has another application. Also are discs being replaced by those chips. All the pirated music I buy down here in Mexico is coming on chips now. They store like 200 songs or more. I think you can just plug a chip into the new BB can't you?
Your phone doesn't need a disc drive anymore.
The total phone /computer experience is in our hands.
Thor might have a plan and that may be the "NEW" direction BB is going in.
I'm a BB investor but I can't buy the Q yet here but I return home soon .

  • BlackBerry Short Sellers Are Still Mostly In The Red [View article]
I am long BB but I wonder why BB wouldn't take a billion dollars and buy back some of their shares or give a dividend. This would run up the stock and shake out the shorts.
I am frankly really suspicious of the huge short position. Is their some scenario that we have not figured out that such a large short position means. For example someone mentioned driving the stock down from 15 to thirteen...buying back in and selling at 15. That scenario has happened 3 times now. Who was it Hephaestus(some Greek God ) who in Purgatory had to roll a stone up a hill only to have it roll back down again and then he had to rollit back up the hill again? Are we in some kind of stock Purgatory?
Well anyhow...I am a bit of a paranoid...but if we can solve this question maybe we can break the cycle. One is definitely BB taking direct action to destroy the shorts.
The other is for all of us shareholders actually going to the next shareholder meeting and lobbying for a solution.
Is their any benefit at all to such a large short position ...say for a hostile takeover bid? Is their any reason why BB would be compliant in such a bid?
As I said ...I'm long...I have no interest in pushing the stock value down...only up.

  • 2013 "production expectations" for the Z10 (BBRY -1.2%) have been trimmed by 4M-6M units, believes Wedge Partners' Brian Blair, who has been bearish on BlackBerry for years. He adds U.S. Z10 launches " have provided no evidence of meaningful sell-through," and is forecasting <10M 2013 BB10 shipments vs. Street estimates of 20M+. Meanwhile, Pac Crest's James Faucette (previous) believes U.S., U.K., and Canadian Z10 inventories are too high, and that production cuts are a matter of time. Also: BlackBerry says the Q10 is expected to sell for a subsidized $249 in the U.S., $50 more than the 16GB iPhone 5. [View news story]
So i'm paranoid... but it looks to me that they organized this release with a big sell order and it has caused quite a drop at least on the TSX.
Among the little retail people , Prem / Fairfax, and the shorts we have the uncommitted institutions who try to shake the tree and get us to sell when they sell and buy when they buy.
