  • Gold Stocks Like Royal Gold And Franco Nevada Do Better When Insiders Own Too  [View article]
Fazsha, I would encourage you to reexamine Sandstrom Gold's balance sheet 34 million on a 600 million dollar company. I would classify the sister, metal and energy, with the term high levels of cash relative to market cap (45 million on 85million market cap) but NOT the gold company by a long shot. Franco as stated by the author has a 1 billion cash position, the market cap is 6 billion. That is 5% cash by market cap for Sandstom and 17% for Franco. Not sure where the line is draw from low to medium to high levels of cash. I can not rebuttal your argument about the counterparty risk, it is 100% valid as seen with the problems with the metals and energy company and it is also a risk that Franco and Royal share but they are clearly far more diversified. They do deserve higher multiples.

  • Sandstorm Gold: A Clarification   [View instapost]
Topself I agree with you that more upside is possible by owning the partners directly. For myself though I do not own them. I think the additional risk you take on is much greater than the additional upside. I do however watch the partners stock movements. If I am to busy to evaluate the individual streams watching the partners stocks is an excellent measure of the health of the stream that is fast an easy.

  • Undiscovered Gem: Sandstorm Metals & Energy  [View article]
I would like to question how much the cash flow guarantees are truly worth before discounting. Dollar for dollar, .50 on the dollar? Also this article, while very good, does not discuss Royal Coal. This is one of the best articles I have seen on SME. While I may seem critical I share your sentiment and am also long this company.

SNDXF.PK is the OTC ticker for Sandstorm Resources, not "Sandspring Resources." While Sandstorm is in the gold sector they are neither an explorer nor mine operator. They are a streaming company.
