  • Congress gears up for another battle over Ex-Im Bank  [View news story]
The EXIM bank makes money for the taxpayers and for US corporations and their employees. There is nothing wrong with promoting US business around the world, in fact it's something the government should be doing, promoting US businesses, US exceptionalism, the welfare of the taxpayers, the workers, the economy of the United States, our leadership in the world. Philosophical objection is just plain stupid, if not un American.

  • Chanos reveals new short position in "looming disaster" Cheniere Energy  [View news story]
user, clearly that situation will/does exist at times. The buyers probably do both contract and spot. They have to arrange for long term supply, like 20 years worth. It would be dangerous to rely completely on the spot market, particularly if oil goes a lot higher sometime in the next 20 years, taking the oil linked ng price up along with it. That's the kind of decisions the buyers have to make. Risky deal here but Cheneire just signed another 20 year contract with EDF (France).

  • Chanos reveals new short position in "looming disaster" Cheniere Energy  [View news story]
user; There's no fixed price negotiate. Cheneire buys NG at Henry Hub pricing and sells it at Henry Hub + 15%. I guess the 15% could be negotiated. The $3-$3.50 fee is a fee for liquefaction and handling, maybe negotiable to some extent. The buyer pays for transportation, cheap right now. 20 year contracts. Buyers are big companies, power companies, not likely to go broke. If you are a buyer and can get LNG on the spot market for $1 less per BTU, (oil linked pricing) maybe you do some of that, but who expects the current oil price to last for the next 20 years and is anyone going to bet their fuel supply on it for the next 20 years?

  • Fischer: Global developments may have killed Sept. rate hike  [View news story]
Sept. on not it, doesn't matter anymore, we already beat this horse to death. The bond participants have already made their adjustments. Maybe it tickles some algorithm briefly but it's no longer an event. This particular horse is dead.

  • Citi: Oracle needs many years to break even on cloud app sales relative to licenses  [View news story]
Welcome to Software as a Service. the traditional up front license model is very profitable but it's going away. Much to Larry's chagrin. Showing earnings with SaaS is a real trick, ala CRM etc. Valuing a SaaS vendor is an even more difficult trick. EV/sales etc. with lots of deferred revenue hanging around somewhere in the financial statements.
