Shares of Tesla Motors (TSLA) move up 2.3% premarket as last week's earning report euphoria doesn't show any early signs of fading. Pacific Crest may have seen enough of the momentum/short squeeze run, warning that over the long term the automaker needs to ramp up gross margins to 25% from 5% and demonstrate sustainable demand. Wasn`t it the opposite? According to the Q1 presentation Tesla is very conservative when it comes to registering sales? Maybe I`m missing something?

Your arguments improve day by day :) Getting desperate?
Tesla Motors (TSLA +3%) CEO Elon Musk sent another intriguing tweet earlier today. The exec says a new Tesla strategy will be unfurled tomorrow which Tesla owners (cars or stock?) will like. Musk also had a word or two for shorts: "Seems to be some stormy weather over in Shortville these days." [View news story]
2 years? Competitors are much further away from presenting anything threatening than 2 years. Competitors need to build EVs from ground up, which means they need a long range EV platform, which they do not have.
Competitors are probably at least 4-5 years behind. And they still don`t see Tesla as a big threat, which is extremely positive for Tesla :)
Tesla Motors (TSLA -1.8%) CEO Elon Musk says he will take cases against auto dealer groups to federal court if the automaker fails to win approval at the state level to sell directly to the public through retail stores. So far, Tesla has had good results in the courtroom on the issue. [View news story]
What`s up with this thing called "the internet". Me dont likes it! Lets file a lawsuit....
Tesla Motors (TSLA +3.2%) CEO Elon Musk pushes for support in Texas on a bill which would allow electric vehicle manufacturers to sell cars directly to consumers. Though the automaker has won a few victories in other states, the battle against Texas auto dealers could be a bit tougher. [View news story]
Hmmmm, maybe it`s a norwegian expression? Battery Electric Vehicle? What`s the term you use for pure battery EVs? Simply EV?

You got on board too early :)
I agree though that for lots of people BEVs aren`t quite there yet as the price is a bit high. No problem for Tesla though as they`re manufacturing a luxury car.
But the prices are sinking every year, so more and more people can afford EVs. And most people will convert to BEVs eventually, because they are simply wastly superior to the gasoline cars on about every area but range and time to refill.

I think we`ll have to wait a year or two for that to happen. Still lots of things can go wrong for Tesla.
But I actually believe Peterson will be the bigger man and admit he was wrong (if it turns out that he was). He is definitively bright, even though I often disagree with him :)
Shares of Tesla Motors (TSLA) roar 5.5% higher after the EV automaker announces that February sales beat its own guidance and that it will be mildly profitable for Q1. What to watch: Though TSLA shorts could get thrashed around a bit on today's news, there's still the meaning of Elon Musk's cryptic tweet from last week to hash out with the company due to make another announcement tomorrow. Since Tesla is discontinuing the 40kWh, maybe he`ll just pay off the DOE loan all at once?
Tesla (TSLA) announces Model S sales of more than 4,750 units, exceeding mid-February guidance of 4,500. As a result, the company ups Q1 earnings guidance, now expecting to be profitable on both a GAAP and non-GAAP basis. The small battery option for the Model S will not enter production due to lack of demand. (PR) [View news story]
I agree it`s positive compared to their goal, but when we know from a couple of sources that they`re producing 500+ a week now, we`re looking at about 6500 cars produced in Q2. That makes Q1 look weak, even though I agree it`s actually quite good!
Both GAAP and non GAAP profitable is great. Shorts will suffer, as I`ve known a loooooong time.....

A bit disappointing as we know Tesla is producing 500+ a week now.
But then at least Q2 2013 will be way better than Q1!
