  • Are Dividend Growth Investors Doing It All Wrong? [View article]
He can swing for the fences, just know that it will increase your chances of striking out.

On the other hand, I don't have a problem investing in singles or doubles…it's all about the long term baby.

  • Genworth Financial: Incredible Turnaround, Still Attractive Here [View article]
I got in at $9 and it's been one of my more successful buys in my young investing career. A decision to reinstate the dividend could give the stock a good boost as well. Very nice article.

  • Should You Still Buy BP At $47? [View article]
Thanks for the article. I agree it is a great long-term buy. Regardless of where you stand on the companies actions during the spill, trading at 9x presents a great opportunity. I'd like to think that if I bought it in my Roth right now (at 19) I would see great growth in the next 40 years.

  • Apple, China Mobile sign iPhone deal: WSJ [View news story]
It'll be interesting to see how the stock reacts tomorrow. It's been known for a while and been noted by several analysts that the deal was coming so it will be interesting to see if the deal is already priced into the stock or not. I'm hoping for a good pop tomorrow, but you never know!

    Long AAPL!

  • 'Government Motors' No More [View article]
I'd be curious to hear his projected valued in a year also. I currently own F and am fairly new to investing. At 19 I have a few years to buy and hold and I'm looking for some good long term players. I'm already in a lot of DG stocks but I feel some loyalty towards GM as it has paid and is still paying for everything my family has. I don't follow cyclical stocks very much, would it be bad to own both F and GM? Thanks for any comments.

  • GE: Retail Finance Unit IPO [View article]
This is pretty much what happened between Pfizer and Zoetis. If you own GE shares right now you will have the option to swap them for the Retail Finance company or keep your current shares in GE.

"GE may also decide to exit by selling or otherwise distributing or disposing of all or a portion of its remaining interest in the Retail Finance shares."

Pretty much GE wants to get rid of any shares of the finance unit so they aren't exposed to that business anymore (hence the spin-off). Pfizer came out and said the same thing when they spun off Zoetis but never distributed any remaining shares. If the transaction doesn't receive enough interest and not a lot of people decide to swap the shares then the company COULD distribute the leftover shares of GE Retail to current GE shareholders but there is no guarantee. As I said, Pfizer mentioned they might do it but obviously Zoetis was popular enough there was not enough stock to get rid of. Hope this helps. Let me know if you're still confused.

  • Don't sleep on General Mills [View news story]
I agree, I've been looking to add this stock to my IRA as I consider it a great long term hold. Hopefully The Street is disappointed when they report Dec 18th (or the Taper drama), I've love to pick it up lower.

Apple could do no right, now they can do no wrong. Feel sorry for the people who sold on all those negative analyst reports (not).

  • One Rock Solid Dividend Stock For Your Portfolio [View article]
Ok, I'll bite. I own PG and love the stock. In terms of valuation UL is cheaper and does have a solid portfolio of brands. PG may be a little more recession resistant but overall both companies have good brands. I picked PG because they have a great record of paying and raising dividends (57 years), UL on the other hand has been fairly inconsistent with their dividend payments. Don't think you could go wrong with either.

Picked up some PG a while ago during the CEO debacle, it now seems like that presented a great buying opportunity. Long PG and looking to add more eventually if it ever gets below 78. Thanks for the article.

  • Realty Income: The Recent Decline Is A Buying Opportunity [View article]
You are correct in the assumption that you will have *unrealized* losses of 30k but people who invest in stocks for dividend income do it for the consistent 5.6k payments and don't worry about losses. If they reinvested the stock at these low prices it would lower their cost basis and allow them to accumulate more shares and further more increase their dividend payments. Dividend income (in my opinion) is all about reliable consistent income, unrealized gains or losses don't matter for the most part.

Thanks for the article Albert. I bought last week and feel very confident in my decision and didn't feel the need to "time" the bottom. Like zachdog said, we are all getting paid to wait it out.
