  • McClendon's Departure From Chesapeake Should Prompt Further Changes And Equity Appreciation [View article]
I'm not going to judge A-Mac too harshly. He seems to do everything on a grand scale, so both his virtues and his shortcomings are magnified.

Exactly. It's not about making a better burger. It's about making a million burgers more profitably than anyone else.

  • I'm Not An Accountant, Either [View article]
I have to agree about letting a tax ramification alone drive a decision.

Reminds me of a great question I once read...would you rather pay $1 million in taxes or $10 million? Of course, most people say $1 million but the man asking the question says he would rather pay $10 million in taxes since it would mean he had made a lot more money.

  • What Are The 20 Top Nat Gas Producers Saying About Future Nat Gas Prices? [View article]
It reminds me of what I noticed a few years ago when I tried to improve my personal finance habits...I had to still make a few moves at the beginning that I didn't like just to keep cash flow going until my other improved habits paid off. Sort of a two steps up, one step back situation...only on a much larger scale that affects a lot more people.

I find this news encouraging. While I try to remember that even the best investors are human and can make mistakes, CI doesn't seem the type to chase empty promises.

  • Dejour Energy: The Energy Sector's Speculative Pick Of The Day [View article]
Thank you for the advice (and believe me, I have less knowledge than most people on this board). In my case, though, increasing my position means paltry investments in the $50-$100 range, so there isn't a whole lot of risk involved.

  • Dejour Energy: The Energy Sector's Speculative Pick Of The Day [View article]
I have a small position in this stock and have been considering increasing my position since it has recently lost a little ground (I had to sell off a portion of the stock for personal reasons and fortunately it was when it had reached a "peak").

I don't have the energy background most of the folks on this board have, but based on what I have read, I can't see NG prices not rising in the near future. Whether it will be enough to help DEJ survive, and thrive, remains to be seen.

  • For Higher Returns, Avoid These 2 Investment Biases [View article]
I have been guilty of both of these biases. In addition, I have noticed a tendency in myself towards "confirmation bias."

Thank you for writing this article. It never hurts to be reminded of what can happen if an investor isn't vigilant.
