you've gotta be patient. building a company from the ground up takes time and in just a little over a year floyd wilson and his team have done a very nice job getting to where they are now. acquiring the properties took a lot of borrowing and what they are doing from time to time is replacing exspensive borrowed money with cheaper money which ultimately will translate into a bigger bottom line.
i was in petrohawk ( also floyd wilson ) shortly after the company was started and went thru the same company building thing but hung in there to be around when the company got sold for around $18 per share.

an old saying - good things happen to those who wait

a big benefit to a long term play is the long term gains tax is currently only 15% versus short term which is tax as ordinary income at 36-42% depending on one's bracket

i've been in halcon for over a year and despite being down on paper, i'm in for the long haul ( growing pains ) when the company becomes a consistantly profitable company and then at right time sold which is the game plan of floyd wilson.

  • Vringo Vs. Google: Seeing The Forest For The Trees [View article]
welcome back steve, was missing your great intelligent insights
regarding mollysbuddy's question of google being honest on their revenues, they are a public company and certainly would not risk the wrath of the SEC, IRS, institutional investors, etc
all public companies listed on the major exchanges report revenues quarterly and annually usually with breakdowns on revenues of each segments of their businesses.
this is one of the many things analysts look at to try predicting future direction of company's income, expenses, expansions, contractions, etc

  • Vringo Vs. Google: What To Watch For In The Jury Verdict [View article]

A federal court jury was sent home for the weekend after failing to reach a decision Friday in a patent infringement trial against Google and other companies.

The jury had been deliberating since Thursday afternoon. The panel will return to court Monday.

I/P Engine, a subsidiary of New York-based Vringo, a company that sells cell phone ring tones, sued Google, AOL, Gannett, and IAC Search & Media, claiming they have been using its patents without permission. I/P Engine is seeking more than $100 million in damages.

The patents involve a system that filters Internet advertising to specific search queries. Google, the chief defendant, has argued that it developed its own ad filtering system.

  • Vringo Vs. Google: What To Watch For In The Jury Verdict [View article]
as i predicted yesterday, today did not provide the moment of truth on this trial. with jury being given instruction prior to close of yesterday's session, it was anticipated verdict would have been reached and released at least after close of market today
that leaves several possibilities ( feel free to contribute here )
    1) jury has yet to reach a decision and will continue deliberations on monday ( and possibly tues ) with verdict being reached
    2) jury has reached a decision with judge deciding to have verdict announced/read on monday
    3) jury has reached a decision, announced/read decision without public present. Announcement of decision is being delayed until close of after hours trading or monday when trading on stock will be halted prior to announcement
    3) jury is struggling to the point where a mistrial is declared

any comments on maximum time frame jury is given to reach a decision before judge declares a mistrial? is it up to defendent's attorneys to request a mistrial with a basis applied pr is it solely in the hands of judge jackson?

  • Vringo Vs. Google: Google's Motions For Judgment As A Matter Of Law [View article]
with steve preparing for his own trial, i thought i'd check the transcripts for today to check on validity of unger cross examination provided earlier on yahoo site. It appears that all of the transcript have a Notice of Intent to Request Redaction meaning no access via pacer until late november but can be viewed at courts public computers or or purchased through the court reporter/transcriber before the deadline for Release of Transcript Restriction. When checking the definition of redaction online, it appears that the goal is to prevent access to sensitive information and/or to create opportunity to edit/comine all transcripts into one. Still scratching my head on that one - maybe steve can clarify for us. A motion by defendent was granted to deny plaintiff from recalling Kosak as a rebuttal witness ( out of the presence of jury ).
Seems like jury was excused early for judge and attorneys to deal with all the motions. There wasn't any mention of ungar or his cross examination unless i simply missed it.

  • Vringo: Parabolic Rise Imminent? [View article]
i called the courthouse around 4:30pm and was only able to find out the trial finished for the day. Tried to find out how far it proceeded and whether the lawyers began closing arguments yet. Unfortunately nothing. Will check later to see if transcript appears on pacer site after 7pm which is when court reporter plans on filing it. Trying to contribute with absence of Steve
Hope steve is ok - there was news a few days ago about hawaii expecting a tsunamio due to massive earthquake in canada

Too bad the markets are closed. i was expecting the stock to continue to trek up as the trial moved closer to jury deliberations and decision.
Reading steve's updates & comments as well as other comments posted on the blog has truly been an educational and enjoyable experience. Steve is extremely bright and articulate and did a great job of bringing everyone up to speed on a level that all can comprehend.
On another note, i believe the transcripts for past thurs and friday have yet to be filed via pacer but are expected to be filed by end of today.
Is there agreement that the jury probably won't get their instructions and begin their deliberations any earlier than tomorrow ( weds ) afternoon.
Today Google finishes with their last witness with cross examinations then if i recall correctly, closing arguments will begin.
