I am a newbie, self-taught in basic economics, a great admirer of Warren Buffett as a outstanding investor but also as a funny, down-to-earth, not-taking-himself-seriously guy.
I am having the fun of my life investing mostly in US assets.
My portfolio is fairly diversified.
I employ (to the extent my expertise allows me) value investing:
- buying undervalued companies such as AIG at USD 39.65, NSC at 62.15, CAT at 81,20 (reduced at 88.25), JPM at 36,20 (sold at 42.4), WFC at 34,86 (betting both on the housing recovery and the depressed prices of the US banks), MDLZ at 26,16 (sold at 30,5; this was a bet based on Greenblatt's investment thesis that recent spin-offs outperform).
- buying undervalued indexes - DAX at 5950 (sadly sold prematurely at 6550).
- outstanding companies at a reasonable price Visa at USD 117, increased at USD 139 and then reduced at USD 158 and again increased at USD 179, AXP at 62.4, MA at 520, Adidas at 68.5, increased at EUR 81. SBUX and UNP are my latest acquisitions in this rubric (SBUX already seems to be justifying itself).
A small portion of my holdings is in risky, high growth SODA at USD 37 (sold one quarter of the position at 74.5), AAPL at USD 457 and USD 498 (although I was skeptical about Apple's long term future I went with the crowd and lost money with Apple).
When I close my eyes I see only top-notch quality (and never-ending improvement). That's the only reason to be alive.
