Verizon (VZ) says it activated 6.8M smartphones in Q3, of which 3.4M were Android phones (many of them were probably Galaxy S III units) and 3.1M were iPhones. This compares with 2.9M Android phones and 2.7M iPhones in Q2. Verizon adds 21% of iPhone activations (~650K) involved LTE devices (i.e. the iPhone 5) - supply issues are said to be responsible. Apple (AAPL) -0.8%. (VZ Q3 results: I, II, III) [View news story]
I went to apple store last night and couldn't even buy a charger. Anything IPhone related that comes in is gone in two seconds.
