A worrying trend or a contrarian indicator? Leon Cooperman's Omega Advisors was far from the only big hedge fund to unload its Apple (AAPL) position in Q4. Joining Omega were Dan Loeb's Third Point, Thomas Steyer's Farallon Capital, Barry Rosenstein's Jana Partners, John Burbank's Passport Capital, and Eric Mindich's Elton Park Capital. On the other hand, David Einhorn's Greenlight Capital raised its stake to 1.3M shares from 1.1M and bought 275K call options ahead of its Prop. 2 suit (13F). Apple has historically been a hedge fund darling. [View news story]
is there any way to know what green light bought on the 275k call options-------what strike and what expiration?
Vail Resorts: Way To Go Despite Profit Warning [View article]
how can you justify scenario number 4---there is no way MTN is going to $69. MTN will be giving new metrics the beginning of march (just about 5 weeks away)-----and i bet they lower guidance again. I have friends that teach at the ski school in vail, know a major lodge owner in vail--------and business is off. MTN deserves a multiple even less than the market averages since weather is a key factor, and the company has no control over it. it is still a tough economy and a ski vacation is pricey.
Stocks With Better Prospects Than Vail Resorts [View article]
i see mtn as a great short and priced for perfection right now and going forward.
i spent last summer in vail and could see the quiet over past summers there. the ski season has just kicked of with no snow. the amount of skiers is decreasing, soft economy, and possibility of another bad snow accumulation----------... am i missing?
i see this stock potentially getting crushed.
why did mtn raise the dividend and buy back stock in the high 40's? i can not figure it out.
hopefully you still follow mtn and have some recent thoughts and comments.

my gut tells me that the apple numbers will be what is expected----although i think the forward guidance will propel the stock higher. apple is getting into the holiday buying season and i think they will announce incredible advance orders on the new products especially the ipad mini----and with a strong update on iphone 5 sales.................... a hunch

i like your strategy. could you go out to the april puts and also gain another dividend? did you also consider buying the 13 puts----understanding you could lose more but have less cost and greater upside if the divvy remains the same or goes up.

ROIC keeps building on each quarter and demonstrates that their plan is working.
