LOL, I dug out my files from 2009 and saw I bought AXPW @ 1.63 on 8/14/2009 and then bought more at $2.10 on 9/30. I still have some of those $2 shares. Looking forward to the day when those are green.

    OK, everybody let's sing together,

Oh happy day, Oh happy day, when Axion rose, oh when it rose....

    It that blasphemous?

Nice. I've got two little guys sitting on my shoulders, ala "Animal House". One says "Buy More", the other says "No, you are way overweight as it is".

However, I never put more money into anything than I can afford to lose completely. I just may have to drink a cheaper brand of Scotch if this fails.

    Nah.

  • Interest Rates: The Darkest Black Swan Ahead? [View article]
"ZIRP has been crippling incentives both to borrow ("we can wait, rates will stay low") and borrow (margins are too low), and a rise wil spur activity."

Exactly, Tack. I'm seeing just that in my area. For months I've been telling a good friend who is a high-end home builder and realtor that he is going to be very busy this year. He didn't believe me but in the last three weeks he has been busier than in the previous 3 years. Reason? All of the fence-sitters are realizing how cheap it is to buy a house now, and they don't want to risk a higher mortgage rate. Higher rates also spur the banks to be a bit more willing to lend. Better for everybody.

I am in no way suggesting a return to hyper-inflation and 10-yr yields much above 3-4% That would certainly be disastrous to many people for many reaons. I do see a return to a more historical yield of 2 % or so above inflation, which will make both of those trades winners.

And yes, I am a firm believer in "don't fight the fed".

You may be correct, Frank, but I've taken small positions in both TBT and TMV to take advantage of what I see are currently unsustainable low t-bill yields.

Yes, that pushing and shoving could get rather rough before long. That's why I bought some TMV when yields were under 1.5. I don't really care about the reasons for the rally. Blame it on Peter Pan for all I care. The truth is that the longer it goes on, the more people are going to realize that it is silly to buy 10-yr yield of 1.5 when there are plenty of high-quality companies yielding much more. When those people leave t-bills and start buying, it will give further impetus to the rally. However, I do hope we have another correction this fall so I can buy more.

  • Dramatic Decoupling Of U.S. Stocks From Global Equities To End [View article]
HAHA. Very funny and true, Robin. I bought the FTSE fund offered in my 401k when it was below 5200 and enjoying the ride up. And it pays a 3% dividend. As long as there are people who think the world is going to end I'll keep taking advantage. Also bought more TOT at that time. Great price and great dividend.

Bang, I would actually more like to know who is selling and the story behind the selling. To me it seems silly to sell when things are looking very bright, but whomever it is may have an interesting story as to why. Seems like the quantity that has gone off in the last month or so is far above the BK shares, and Quercus is getting low if not out. Seems like we must be getting near the end of those willing to sell at this price.

Today was only 65. I may be done now. Or not. I just hope .30 is in the rear-view mirror for good.

I can not tell a lie. It was I. Happy to get some 30-centers. I also filled in a hedgie friend on the 10Q and CC info. He has been accumulating. Don't know if he bought more or not.

LOL. Many of those 100K in the first 10 minutes were mine. Yes, it's a sickness.

my cockles are getting warm as well. I long ago quit trying to understand why people do the things they do, like selling AXPW @ .30. The 10Q, while not stellar, is still better than the last one yet the selling continues. Not enough to trigger my stink bid today though. Maybe tomorrow. TG will say that things are progressing nicely and some holders will run for the hills.

  • Treasurys continue to sell off, the yield on the 10-year of 1.78% is the highest since May, and up from 1.39% in 3 weeks. Prices are far from cheap though. A buyer today would lose 6.78% of his/her principal - equal to more than 3 years of coupons - with an increase in yields of just another 50 basis points (h/t tradefast). TLT -5.4% since July 24. [View news story]
Yes, that's the play I'm making. Nice to see bullion hold above 1600 while t-bill rates are climbing.

Was nice to see the volume today. I wish it had been at a couple pennies higher so I didn't feel so bad about my buys this week. I keep reminding myself that I won't care when the price is north of $2.

Anyway, I apologize if this has been discussed. I go for weeks at a time without being able to read the posts. I'm working in Charlotte these days and notice a lot of Hybrid buses. Any market there for us?
