  • Interesting Times For All Commodities And Investments!! Chapter 4...... [View instapost]
    Hey Tack,

Gotta love SAN. Wish I had bought under $5 but I keep buying more any time it's under 7. I move profits from other winners into it and keep collecting that 11% return. It's put a lot of money into my account so far.

  • Is the sun rising on Daybreak Oil and Gas? [View instapost]
Finally some progress. Company announced completion of Bear #5 and the start of drilling on Bear #6. The best part is that all of these development wells have the infrastructure in place to get the oil to market. It also appears that they will be releasing PR's after each well rather than waiting for a couple to complete as has been their MO in the past. If they are going to release news after every well we should hear something else within a few days. The CEO has told me that it takes on average 3 days to drill a well and about a week to get it on-line. The PR today stated that Bear #6 was started yesterday which means we should hear something by middle of next week at the latest. As soon as they release production figures for these I'll put together some revenue figures. Would be nice to get to a cash-flow positive point some time this year.

Also good to see a new 52-wk high today.

  • One of the stranger outcomes of gold's collapse is to make gold miners look more expensive, which Nomura says means more downside for the miners. "Lower levels of investment demand have the equilibrium point for the gold price at still lower levels. [If so], the equities should still have further to retrace." It's another down day for South African miners: HMY -5.6%, GOLD -4.5%, AU -4%, GFI -1.2%. (also[View news story]
Good move TT. I was happy to buy GGN at 14 last year. Steal at 10. Did buy some BUGT, HL, and AGQ. This won't last forever.

  • Axion Power Concentrator 220: Mar. 22: Axion Power Completes New Continuous Roll Carbon Sheeting Process [View instapost]
    Just took a quick look at the 10K, and I don't recall seeing anything mentioned here yet about this sentence;

"Since the end of 2012, two additional OEM’s have moved into programs with us."

Certainly seems interesting to me that they mention an additional two OEM's that are interested since the end of 2012. I hope I can make the call on Monday to see if anything is mentioned.

Very exciting news. So much so I had to buy more to stick in my kids' IRA accounts. They'll thank me some day.

  • Stocks turn decidedly lower as Cyprus' ruling party will apparently abstain from the bailout vote, thus assuring its failure. The ball now moves back to Brussels, where the ECB has threatened to withhold funding from Cyprus' banks if the bailout (and depositor haircut) isn't passed. Stoxx 50 (FEZ) -1.5%, S&P 500 (SPY) -0.5%, the euro (FXE) -0.5%[View news story]
Yes it was, F and G. Took advantage and added some more SAN. I hope the fear continues.

  • Are We Ready To See Gold Heading To $4,990? [View article]
Yes, Avi. I agree with Abe. Very well written. I'm becoming more of a fan every week. While I am not a PM bug, I do hold some physical silver and play the PM market with the miners and via AGQ. I do wish I had been following you earlier when accumulating my miners, but with companies like Iamgold now yielding over 3% I see very little downside there now. It is more apparent every day the fundamentals just don't seem to work any more with the metals.

    Nice work.

  • Axion Power Concentrator 217: Mar. 13: Axion Power And EPower Engine Systems Inaugurate Strategic 18-Wheeler Alliance Using PbC Batteries In Hybrid Drive Trains For Class 8 Trucks [View instapost]
Jeez. I don't get around to reading the APC for a couple days and the mood really seemed to turn for a few folks. I on the other hand am more excited than ever. After the ePower PR I bought some more. I have a neighbor who runs a hedge fund. I got him interested in Axion a while back and he has been adding here and there. He asked me what I thought about the PR and I told him I was more excited about it than I am about BMW.

Reason is this; Imagine later this year when a few of their conversions are on the road. Those owners start telling their driver buddies how much less fuel they're using. Those guys tell some other guys and so on. Word of mouth in the truck driver world will be a huge catalyst for future growth, IMO.

As for delays in PR, etc. I'm not worried at all. I've been an IT project manager for years and nothing ever goes as planned. I'm running a multi-million dollar project now that we are delaying a couple months so we can get it done correctly. No different in the battery world of that I am sure.

Should be an interesting year without a doubt.

  • Want To Be An Above-Average Investor? Stop Trying To Time The Market [View article]
Right on, Daze. I do like the artcile, but I do think a bit of timing can help the average investor. My system is also somewhat nebulous, and it relies more on gut feel than anything else. And I rarely am more than 40% cash.

Back in 2007 it just seemed to me like there were too many people talking about how much their 401K had gone up. People I knew who had little interest in the market were suddenly talking about what the Dow had done that day. I started moving into cash when the Dow crossed 14,000. I went back in too early when we hit 10,000 but I stilll had a lot more shares than I had before.

My rule is usually when I am up over 10% I start moving a little bit back into cash. Maybe 5% or so at a time. However, I have not started doing that yet because I have not heard the chatter on the street about the market. When that starts, that will be my sign that the market is getting too crowded, just like in 2007.

  • 7 Reasons To Expect A Record-Breaking Year For Stocks [View article]
great article, Lou. I agree on all points. As for number 4, I like to refer to something I call my "man on the street" index. Back in 2007 when I started hearing everybody talk about how much their 401K's had gone up I started moving into cash. I am just now starting to hear people at work and on the street talking about how much the market has gone up, maybe they should start buying stocks again. That will keep things going for a while. I travel a lot for business and everywhere I go I see crowded restaurants, airports, stores, etc. Things are looking up.

That's not to say things are perfect, and I am looking at areas to take some profits off the table, but I do believe we'll see 15,000 Dow before we see 12,000.

  • Silver: Near-Term Bullishness Possible, But Lower Levels Still Likely [View article]
nope, you may be confusing me with some other good-looking guy. I don't consider myself a gold or silver bug, and I'm open to all methods of making money. Don't believe I ever said anything negative about your work.

Thanks for the update on your silver thoughts, Avi. I'm not a silver or gold bug, but do like making money and have done so with AGQ. You have been remarkably accurate with your silver move predictions and I just hope that when your parabolic rise comes that the same thing happens with my miners!

I have recently closed out a few of my "advisor" subscriptions and keeping an eye on what you do. Am considering signing on at some point.

  • Is the sun rising on Daybreak Oil and Gas? [View instapost]
Yes, the company did receive financing and yes, they did release a PR in early December saying the rig would be on site by mid-December. As of a conversation with the CEO in early January things were delayed yet again. Weather permitting, drilling was supposed to start in mid-January. I have not tried following up yet. Based upon prior history this company rarely releases PR's until a new well has been drilled and all the bugs worked out so that true production numbers are know. So we wait.

  • 5 Questions For The Rest Of The Trading Week [View article]
Agree on 1 and 4 Bret. I'm using TBT and TMV and have made some money trading some and holding some for what I feel is the inevitable. I think these two are related, since a lot of the people who were scared out of stocks in '09 went to t-bills. I believe they are now afraid of missing the train and are starting to move that money out of treasuries and into equities. That's a whole lot of cash that wants to go somewhere. I'll be increasing my percentage of cash as we move above 14,000. Once I hear co-workers start talking about their stocks again I'll pick up the pace of that move. Worked back in '07-'08. I call it my "man on the street" index.
