  • Could A Bear Market Kickstart Apple? [View article]
Cnbc is useless as a business news channel. They seem more like a daytime tv chat show than a business show.

They are geared to tell the traders what they think they want to hear.

  • Steve Jobs Doesn't Want the iPhone to Become a Porn Store [View article]
apple is right to take this tack.

as pointed out you can use the web and just go there yourself. so it is not like you are blocked.

however, an application that makes it to their store has an implicit seal of approval. there are many people that for various reasons object to xxx content.

the other reasons listed by the author are also valid competitive reasons. as a parent i applaud some control.

since apple has a strong presence in the high end phone market with just one provider it seems the consumer does not object too much to how they package their product.

  • Apple iPad's Rivals Can't Hang on Pricing [View article]

    you hate apple.

you list some of the shortcomings of iPad 1.0 which came out in the spring. it is the best 1.0 computer product i have ever seen.

there are shortcomings to be sure. but overall it is a fine product.

the marketplace will soon cast it's verdict on whether your superior Android/Windows/ or pick your OS platforms are deemed superior to Apple's.

Apple's entry here is not limited to one carrier and as has been pointed out in this article does not carry a premium price.

  • Is the iPhone 4 Becoming the Windows Vista of Apple? [View article]
I do not know how the antenna issue will play out. Perhaps it is a software issue, perhaps a hardware one. My impression from reading the reporting on this is if you get a cover you are fine. If that is true then there is no issue.

My biggest complaint is you attributing a windowed interface as something that Microsoft introduced to computers. "just like Microsoft (MSFT) did when it originally introduced the Windows operating system to personal computing."

Perhaps you have heard of the Apple Lisa or the Apple MacIntosh?

Apple also taught Microsoft how to write software for the Windowed Interface with Word and Excel on the MacIntosh before Microsoft copied the Apple UI and moved the code over to Windows.

  • Wall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News [View article]
AIG would have gone under. The govt did not take 90% of the company for nothing. Their out of countrol leveraged insurance unit had losses that took whatever assets the company had under water.

Their policies were stupid and they were stupid. That unit was described as a small minor share of the company but because of the risk they took on they swallowed the company. Greenberg is an ass. He should be thankful that the stock price has recovered and he has money rather than his share being worthless because the company is bankrupt.

  • There Won't Be An Apple TV [View article]
There are many problems with tv

Bundling - getting things you don't want
Cost - paying for things you don't want
Scheduling - watching things on someone else's schedule
Content - media is from many places

There are many things to be improved, but it starts with the content. The people who provide content like the current system very much.

Microsoft's Windows 8 Is Likely Not A Winning Ticket

Microsoft is a technology company and yet the article does not talk about the technology, how it is positioned versus its competition or anything else.

You make a passing reference to past mistakes without listing what they are.

What a lame article. This has no relevance to investing in the stock nor does it address the strategy of the company or likely outcomes.

  • Apple $700: Don't Get Burned Again [View article]
Seriously. You can walk into a retail outlet and get the same support Samsung product that you can get for an Apple one?

I do not believe that at all. Apple's service is way above anyone else's.

  • The Non-Decline And Fall Of Apple [View article]
Apple is fine the stock is not.

The problem is all of Wall Street is convinced Apple will stop making profits which will somehow acrue to Samsung.

They believe no one wants Apple products which is clearly not the case. But this is what they believe and this is what they say every hour on the hour.

  • Can Apple's Earnings Put Fears To Rest? [View article]
Because the street will invent some story to support the thesis that you should sell apple.

and then a month later invent another story to buy apple.

this is how they make money.

Apple won't finance them so they have to manipulate the stock to make money.

  • Are Apple Shares Overvalued or Undervalued? [View article]
other high growing tech companies have much higher pe's.

wall street looks for excuses to undervalue apple and they have done it for years.

they have been saying apple cannot maintain its growth for a decade, since the ipod came out. 10 years later it is the same story.

  • 10 Technologies that Will Rock 2010 [View article]

If the tablet comes out this year, Apple will need it to be a hit. Maybe not as huge as the phone, but a hit nonetheless.

For Apple to stay a growth company with it's multiples it will need a new reason to love the stock soon..

I think Google is the company Apple needs to fear. MS is lost in the wilderness and is too corporate IMO. Google is the one with the energy and ideas. They are pushing very aggressively away from and up from search.

A real Google phone with no limits can be a big problem for Apple. I think Schmidt learned a lot from being on the board.

  • Can Samsung Crush Apple's Tablet Market Share? [View article]
You provide quarterly and semi annual numbers to make your point about Apple financials and units/profits of the smartphone.

Can you provide similar metrics on Samsung? Oh wait you can't. All numbers are estimates by some research company with dubious track records.

Since the Galaxy line is most closely aligned with Apple's products can you provide any realistic numbers of units revenues, profits of this line? Oh wait you can't do that either.

While I would agree that the specs of the new tablet are nice and Samsung will likely sell their share I see no evidence that Samsung is eating Apples lunch. Are they the strongest competitor out there? Sure. They are also the only other company in mobile making any money. They also continue to make less money than Apple in mobile while selling more units of phones, smart or otherwise.

  • Are 2010 Apple Shares the New 1995 Dell Shares? [View article]
when has dell had any ideas? it is not a research company.

its strength was cost. the just in time model of manufacturing.

guess what? all its competitors have adjusted to the cost model.

so what does dell have to drive sales to it? yes. it still does build to order. apple refreshes its line about once a year. it does not to upgrades on individual items in the product, but the build to order model allows apple not to stock out of date equipment. this falls to the bottom line.

apple has always spent on research. all of its current products are a result of that. dell has always copied others.

dell has a problem. they compete with hp and others. the features are not much different. all have a web presence.

they need a new model. and it is not selling music players.
