Retired VP in the wire house business with several clients in management at INTC, AAPL, QCOM, O,HP, and BMR. I don't get any unpublished information and I don't ask. However, you do get a feeling based on a persons excitement about his job, bonus, or new home, etc.
I rely on IBD for my basic information with advice from friends in the business sector. Any recommendations from brokers etc I've received in the 20 plus years in the business have basically been a wash. I track all ideas from those I respect and trust and have just 2 people who, over time, have been on the money and made me a great deal of money. I use $10,000 as a full position to begin with on the best ideas and $5000 for the riskier ones. I try
and keep the maximum invested at $20,000 but on a few have more due to 15 plus year ownership and reinvested dividends, (AAPL,O,QCOM,INTC, MCD,GOOG,BHP, and PM).
